"*Yawn* Man I'm exhausted." You said to yourself as you plopped down on your bed. With school, dance practice, and preparation for the musical, today was extra tiring for you. Maybe you should just go to bed early.
As you started to get under the covers in your bed, you heard your phone buzz. You picked it up, only to see a text from Popping Candy.

Popping Candy: Hey! You still awake?
Y/n: Yep, just about to go to sleep tho.
Popping Candy: Oh sorry!
Y/n: It's fine! What's up?
Popping Candy: Well, Cherry Ball and I were thinking of hanging out at the mall this weekend, you think you could make it?
Y/n: Sure! What time?
Popping Candy: We were thinking around 1:00 pm?
Y/n: Sounds good! Can't wait!
Popping Candy: Me neither! Goodnight!
Y/n: Goodnight!
You put your phone to charge and completely wrapped yourself in your blanket. You were completely exhausted, but you couldn't help but feel excite to hang out with Popping Candy and Cherry Ball this weekend. After all the work you'll be doing for the next few weeks, a break like this is exactly what you need.
[That weekend, at the mall]
"Hmm, where are they?" You asked yourself, checking your phone again. It was already 1:15 and there was no sign of either Popping Candy or Cherry Ball. You had no clue where they were, but you were starting to get worried.
"Ah, hey! Y/n!" You heard someone call out to you. You turned around only to see Choco Ball heading towards you. You felt your heart start pounding, what was he doing here? Didn't Popping Candy just say it would be you, him, and Cherry Ball?
"H-hi, Choco Ball..." You managed in your flustered confusion.
"Hey are you ok? I didn't scare you did I?"
"N-no! Not a-at all! I'm j-just surprised to s-see you that's all. Popping didn't tell me you w-would be here too."
"Huh, Cherry Ball didn't say anything about you coming either... you think they forgot to say?"
"M-maybe. I wonder where they are."
Just as you said that, your phone went off. It was Popping Candy, and he was letting you know he would be late and you and Cherry Ball should just start looking around without him.
"Ah, seems like Cherry Ball won't be here for a while." Choco Ball said, checking his phone as well.
"Wh-what a coincidence. Popping C-Candy just said he's g-gonna be late too." You replied.
"Really? That's weird..."
"I-it is, isn't it?"
Both you and Choco Ball stood in silence as you two thought about what was happening. First, Popping Candy and Cherry Ball 'forgot' to let you both know the other would be there, and now they both said they would be late at the same time? It was suspicious to say the least.
"Well, maybe we should just start looking around. Is there anywhere you want to go?" Choco Ball asked after a little while.
"U-umm. I was th-thinking maybe the v-video store? I like looking at t-the movies they have there."
"That sounds good! Let's go, ok?"
"R-right!" As the two of you started making your way to the video store, you pushed away your concerns and focused solely on what was unfolding right in front of you. You were with Choco Ball, hanging out in a mall, alone together! It was like a dream come true, but you also worried about embarrassing yourself if you ended up getting too flustered. Still, you were determined to enjoy your time with Choco Ball to the fullest. There's no telling if you two ever would do this again after all.

"Mmh! These are so good!" You said as you took another bite of your taco. While Popping Candy and Cherry Ball still haven't shown up yet, both you and Choco Ball were still having a great time. The two of you had went from store to store just browsing around until you got hungry. You both settled for getting some tacos over at the food court per Choco Ball's request, and damn was the place he chose good.
"I know right? This is one of my favorite taco places." Choco Ball replied to you, also taking a bite of his own. "I come here with some of the other guys on the team a lot."
As you two enjoyed your tacos, you saw Choco Ball look over to you. Suddenly, he reached his arm out toward your face and touched it, seemingly wiping something off of it. You felt your heart skip several beats.
"Sorry if I startled you, but there was a bit of food on your face." Upon seeing how just how hard you were blushing, Choco Ball seemed a bit worried. "Hey, Y/n. Are you ok? Your face is completely red."
"Y-yeah! I'm fine! T-the hot sauce is just g-getting to me that's all!"
All the tension left Choco Ball's face as he giggled a bit. "Pfft, you didn't get any hot sauce!"
You looked down as your face flushed even more from embarrassment. Choco Ball stopped laughing and spoke again with a more serious tone.
"But seriously, Y/n. Do you by any chance have a crush on me?"
Surprised by the sudden question, you quickly lifted your head up. Choco Ball stared right at you, smiling a bit at your reaction.
"I knew it. You're really expressive Y/n."
You covered your face with your hands, unable to process what the hell just happened. He knew all along, and from the sound of it, it seems like he wasn't the only one who figured it out. It made you want to die of embarrassment.
"Hey, Y/n, relax." Choco Ball said, putting his hand on your back. "You're not the first one to have a crush on me, and I'm not mad. But I can't say I feel the same. We only just met a few weeks ago you know? And this is the first time we're really hanging out together. I think we should just start off as friends, you know?"
"Y-yeah..."
"But hey, you seem really kind, and Cherry Ball always has good things to say about you. So maybe one day, I'll end up falling in love with you."
"R-really?"
"I can't guarantee anything, but I think it's a good possibility."
"O-ok, I hope we could become close friends for now..."
"Me too, and thanks for understanding." Choco Ball gave you a smile, making your heart race. "Now come on! There's a movie I've been thinking of seeing playing at the movie theater in a while. We should get our tickets now."
"S-sounds good!"
The two of you started heading off to the movie theater. As you walked, you found yourself replaying the conversation in your head. Sure, Choco Ball friend zoned you, but it was in the best possible way. Part of you wondered, could you two really become a couple sometime in the future?
