Harry's POV ~
Anger had coursed through his veins as he sat in the waiting room at St. Mungos, stubbornly waiting for Draco to join him. The healers had given them the all-clear, after treating only a few minor wounds. A burn on his arm was much more stubborn. He had been given a small pot of burn healing cream to help it and had been sent on his way.
They had asked him to leave the hospital so more people could come in, but he had refused, planting himself on the floor so someone could take his seat, unwilling to leave Draco here on his own. Someone might hurt him as they had been clearly been trying to that night.
He had gotten a letter by owl only ten minutes before from one of his top-ranking Aurors who had been on backup duty at the time saying that many more signs had been found at the Manor, all with similar messages but many with different handwriting, which was either a clever way to disguise the identity of a sole perpetrator or there had been a mob after Draco. Draco, Draco, Draco. His Draco.
He shook his head quickly. Not his Draco. Just a friend.
It was no longer Monday but the morning of Tuesday had arrived, meaning that tomorrow was Wednesday and thus Teddy would be home the next day. Harry slumped against the wall, his head hitting it a bit too hard, earning him a slightly miffed look from a trainee healer who was walking past him.
They made eye contact and the Trainee saw the scar on his forehead and immediately looked sheepish and a bit terrified and scampered away. Harry took in a deep breath and inhaled heavily. He looked at the clock again. He was starting to worry about Draco, who had now been in with the healers for more than three hours.
Surely nothing bad could have happened to him? He hadn't gone too close to the fire surely? There had only been moments when Harry wasn't watching when he was casting a Patronus. And when he had got caught up in the fire, and when...
Harry was again consumed with worry for the man with the healers.
Eventually, a healer walked out of the door, wheeling Draco in a wheelchair. The healer looked at the intensity with which Harry was watching and moved towards him, parking Draco by the desk, hanging his head.
The Healer looked strangely serious. "Mr Potter, may we talk?" Harry nodded curtly and motioned for the Healer to speak. The Healer motioned for Harry to go into the room joined on to the waiting room.
"I'm very sorry for any inconvenience Mr Potter. I'm afraid I need to run through some things with you about Mr Malfoy. I am Healer Greengrass. Mr Potter, we found some... Well, we found that Mr Malfoy is severely underweight, possibly the weight he was when he was say 19. He should have gained more weight since then."
Harry shook his head in disbelief. Draco had only the other day been telling him how he needed to eat more, and that he was severely underweight, when so was he. "Okay." Harry took a deep and steadying breath. "Thank you, Healer Greengrass. Is there anything else?"
The Healer nodded. "Only a few more things sir. We have prescribed some medicines and ointments for Mr Malfoy and well... we need somebody to make sure he takes them. There is no next of kin put in place so, well you seem to be the only person we can turn to."
He nodded and then began to walk out of the room. "Thank you, Healer Greengrass. Please excuse me I have an address to make."
Harry stopped outside the room and leaned against the wall. What had just happened? He walked back to the waiting room and saw Draco chatting and laughing with one of the Healers. His heart cracked a little bit.
"Draco! I'm so glad you're okay. I have an address to make about this... situation and was wondering if you'd like to come along?" The Healer shot him a dirty look but Draco smiled even wider. "Of course Harry! See you, Theo."
Draco made it out of the waiting room first and Harry turned around to see Theo still staring at them. He gave a jaunty smile, then winked, before walking out of the room to find Draco sitting on the steps in front of the abandoned building the hospital was hidden in. "Hey, Draco. Are you up to apparate? I'm exhausted, I don't think I can walk."
Draco nodded and got to his feet unsteadily. "Yep, I'm good to go. Where to?" Harry took the letter that had been sent to him earlier. "The minister, Hermione, has set up a conference for me to speak about this. It's probably best if you come with me. It's over at remembrance square."
They closed their eyes and within seconds they had both apparated to remembrance square, where there were hundreds of wizards placed. Harry took a breath before grabbing a hold of Draco's hand and leading him through the crowd to where a hastily erected stage now stood.
Making their way behind the stage they came to find Hermione slowly pacing up and down the back room. "Harry!" She squealed. "You're alright!" Relief washed through her voice and she laughed slightly, her tears washing down his back.
She pulled away and looked behind him to see Draco standing there looking incredibly awkward. She took his hands in her own. "And Draco. I'm so glad you're okay. We're going to catch whoever did this I promise. I can see in Harry's eyes he's already set his mind on it." She winked at Draco and then walked to where the door onto the stage was.
"Right then. I shall prepare the crowd."
Within mere minutes she came back through, letting a blast of chilly wind in through with her. "Well, they're ready for you Harry."
"Ah yes, my adoring fans." He drawled. "You know they adore you when you're saving the world, Harry!" Hermione called out after him.
Harry walked onto the stage and started his speech, cold biting his nose.
"I am Harry Potter, Head of Aurors. Last night there was a severe fire at a very esteemed place, both relevant for the wizarding history it holds and also for being a family home. There was nobody inside Malfoy Manor last night but had there been a loss of life and it would have been unavoidable. UNAVOIDABLE.
I will find whoever did this and you will be punished, mark my words."
