Chapter 6: An Explanation for Phil

Chapter 6:

"This is.......... Change here for.........." Droned the usual underground announcement voice. "This is us" Said Dan. "We've got minutes until we have to be there. Hope you're not tired. I saw you panting earlier" Dan laughed. "You know, for a lifesaver, you're really not very nice" said Phil, running up the escalator after Dan. "Either way, just out of this station and we'll be there." They went out into the sunlight once more and Dan stopped outside an old, dilapidated warehouse. "You've got to be kidding, right?" said Phil. "A warehouse? I trust you less and less the more you do." Dan knocked 4 times on the main service door and a small door next to it opened quickly. Someone quickly grabbed Dan and Phil and slammed the door. "Get off me! Who do you think you are, shoving people around like this?" Shouted Phil. "Hello?" said Dan to the darkness. "I'm pretty sure I'm on time." "Well, well Daniel" said the same cool female voice that Phil had heard on the phone. "Your timekeeping has improved." Dan rolled his eyes. "This really isn't the time for insults. It's not the reason I brought him here anyway" A light suddenly switched on to reveal a well decorated interior of the warehouse. Phil marvelled at the architecture, it looked like a palace. At the end of the room was a marble staircase, and walking down it was a curly brown haired girl, around 22 years old. She seemed to glide down the staircase, and when she got to the bottom, she ran up to Dan and Phil and asked "Is this really him?" "Yes" Dan replied. "This is Phil Lester. I'll have you know I nearly died 3 times today because of this". "Oh Dan you've done brilliantly!" The woman said excitedly. "Excuse me" Interrupted Phil. "Would it kill either of you to give me a proper explanation?" The woman's eyes snapped to Phil. "Of course. Now that you're in the building, I'm happy to tell you everything.

My name is Carrie Hope Fletcher, but you can call me Carrie. This man, as you know, is Daniel Howell" She said, gesturing to Dan. "That's Dan, if you don't mind" He corrected. "Yes. Sorry. Now, to why you're here. As you know, you nearly died 3 times today. In what we call near death experiences and-" "Yes, yes, I got that bit earlier. Please explain why." Phil said impatiently. "Ok. I understand you must be annoyed that we have withheld this information. But you may fire away your questions." She decided that it would be easier to answer his questions rather than to go off on a tangent. Phil considered his question and said "So as I understand it, I keep having these near death experiences, so often that it seems too often to be co-incidence, and you two also have these. My question is, why me? And why you two as well." Phil pondered. "Ok Phil. Good question. You're a YouTuber aren't you, AmazingPhil?" She asked. "Yes. Dan told me you were monitoring me. I assume that was how you were doing it?" Phil questioned. "Yes. But there's more to it than that. We believe you have these near death experiences because you're a YouTuber" said Carrie. Phil was unsure of this theory. How could being a YouTuber be linked to death in any way? "That's a really far-fetched theory. How can you come up with something like that?" Phil challenged. "Well because... we're YouTubers too. Or we used to be" said Carrie. "Then how come I've never heard of you two?" asked Phil. "We had to wipe every trace of ourselves and our accounts. There are more of us, here in this building, who all experience this... curse, or that's what it feels like anyway. And the only thing any of us had in common was YouTube. So one day, we all met up here, and we all decided to stop doing YouTube. Then as if a cloud had parted, they lessened. We went from having around one a day to one every 3 days, or something like that." She said. Phil wondered if this was some mean joke, but as he looked into her eyes he could see how serious she was. He looked to Dan who was nodding. "There are more of you here? Show me" said Phil. "Of course Phil, I'd be happy to. But I warn you, some of them are a bit mad. In the best way possible of course." She turned from Phil and shouted to the room. "EVERYONE! WE HAVE A GUEST!" Phil felt a sudden rumble as a doors opened at the side of the room opened and people spilled out to the centre of the room, looking at Phil and craning to see why he was here. "Phil Lester, I present to you the YouTube clan. Well, anyone from YouTube who has these experiences more often than is necessary."
