Hennesse's eyes immediately widened. She quickly sat up and turned to Khairos.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
Despite her having just sat up, Khairos' arm gently pulled her back down. "Honey... can I sleep beside you?" It was evident in his voice that he had also just woken up.
Hennesse, who was exhausted from yesterday's work wanted to sleep longer. She was still sleepy with a cloudy mind. And within just a few blink, her eyes was already feeling heavy.
"Ha..." She feigned a sigh as she swallowed back a small yawn. "You're only going to ask me now?"
"Can I sleep beside you honey?" Khairos quietly murmured as he raised his head to look at her.
"Really..." She sighed, looking around the room. "This is certainly my room... but how come you're here?"
'This must be another dream'
"I want to sleep beside you like how we used to back in the north..." Khairos trailed.
"I missed you." He quietly confessed.
"...." Hennesse's lips pursed in silence at his words, while his warm breath brushed against her cheeks from their closeness.
Although she still had a cloudy mind due to her tiredness, her conscience was certainly awoken by the vulnerable and pitiful tone of his voice. Hennesse was silent for a moment, pondering what to do. She knew that she couldn't drive him out of her room.
After a time of thinking, she sighed as she finally gave in.
"Alright...." She trailed, turning her burning face away from him.
'He's too close....'
"Just for today." She mumbled. And hearing her agree lit up his face in an instant.
Because Hennesse was still half asleep with a sore body, all she thought about was getting enough rest. And because of that very thought, she had quickly forgotten that she was laying in bed while being held in Khairos' arms. It was only when he pulled her closer that she came to realize.
"...!"
"Khairos." She called, now awake.
Hennesse had noticed that he had become more initiative and more stubborn compared to when she last saw him. She could still vividly remember that she was always the one who would take the initiative, only to be repaid with bluntness and indifference.
But right now, Khairos was latched to her like she would disappear. It was an unfamiliar feeling to Hennesse because even when they slept in the same bed back in the north, Khairos had never hugged her so close in bed like this.
'I'm really not used to this...'
It really bewildered her as she wondered if he really was the same man back then, who barely talked to her, who always glared at her, who purposely avoided her like a plague, the same man who held a sword to her neck. Because right now, he was earnestly clinging to her since the day he found her.
"Khairos." She called.
"Honey." He instantly corrected.
"Khairos."
"No, call me honey."
"Khairos."
"I won't respond unless you call me honey."
'This stubborn man..!' She scowled lightly before calling him in a sudden voice.
"Honey!"
