There are moments when troubles enter our lives and we can do nothing to avoid them. But they are there for a reason. Only when we have overcome them will we understand why that were there.- Paulo Coelho.

Chapter 5 - unedited
Watching Douglas Booth's movies and interviews with nobody stopping how much ever you keep yourself busy is the best thing. Well, did I tell you that I was Saiyara Bist? May be I did. So It keeps on shaking and Shaking all the time. I have rally got used to all this. There are still many things that are left to be done. I have to get in touch with many people.
Papa had called us. He was telling us to go to Mahendranagar, our village. Actually, its a town but whatever, for girl born and brought up in a city like Kathmandu it will be difficult right? I believe life should be simply good, its a short one why waste it trying to adjust with all the new people, customs, society. It would be difficult, so Amu just refused. She said we wouldn't leave.
I have no idea about school till now. Well I saw some pictures of cracked walls and pillars on facebook. At first I thought that it was just an earthquake without affecting so much. My Science home assignment was incomplete. I was going to pick up my bag when everything started shaking. My brother, Adi, who is just 4 years old started running and hid behind the bed. I ran upstairs to get him. "Adi, why on earth are you hiding inside. You should be going outside. " I told him.
"No, no dijju. Its a ghost. We must hide." He said. I was so touched. I didn't know how to make a four year old understand about earthquake. My eyes filled with tears. Tears of fear, tears of sympathy, tears of mixed emotions... I heard people screaming, then i just picked up Adi and ran down to get out but the most shocking thing was the gates were locked. I gave Adi to Anu Mommy and ran upstairs again to get the keys... We were very panicked. Daddy cool was holding his bike which was swaying.
Finally he opened the gate and we all ran like maniacs. When we reached at an open area i put Adi down. He was bare footed, so I gave him my slipper and went in the center of the field. People started gathering there. There was a huge crowd in few minutes. They started telling each other whatever they were doing when the earthquake occurred. Daddy said he wanted to go to Kapan to get Amu and Kabir. We stopped him but he didn't listen. Its a father's heart after all. I know he couldn't leave his daughter and his three month old grand son.
So he went to Kapan in his bike in the midst of that havoc. He is a true inspiration of love and courage. No one can take his place. After about half an hour, I see daddy cool in bike with Kabir's baby sitter behind. I had thought Amu would come but she sent the baby sitter instead. Now I was really worried. Where was Amu? I started wandering around and after sometime i see Amu walking towards my direction. I was so so happy to see her. She had wrapped herself with a Manipuri shawl. She was carrying her hand bag in one hand and a pack of diapers for Kabir.
After Amu came, Adi got overjoyed. When everyone were together we didn't feel scared because everyone was in front of our eyes. But I was thinking about school. I thought may be it was just an earthquake and tomorrow the school would open normally but I was dead wrong. When heard about Dharahara, when I heard about the death of so many people I was so deeply hurt and sad. No one had ever thought that our heritages would be smashed. Once we started using our phones and social sites, messages of sympathy started bombarding. There was no network at area before so we came to know about the mishaps a bit later.
It was really scary to think that Dharahara was no more, to think that our neighbor had passed away... It was very creepy to even think of so any people dying. I had never thought that earthquakes could be so dangerous. I had always taken it lightly but now, I promised myself that I would never repeat that mistake again and underestimate the power of any disaster.
