Windows to the Soul

"Jacob." The ravenette breaths, clutching her dearest friend tightly. It had been a few months since they had both last seen each other in person, and the silver eyed girl was taking as much advantage of the time present with her wolf as she could.
She wouldn't admit it aloud, but besides her father and brother, she had likely missed Jacob the most, the chocolate eyed boy had always been one of the few people she felt nothing but safety and security from, his very presence allowing her to relax easier then she had in months.
"My angel." He whispers back, arched down quite far to nuzzle her neck, breathing in the delectable scent of rich vanilla, tropical fruit, coconut and fresh night air that came naturally with her, a single breath of her signature fragrance making him deliriously euphoric.
Pulling away slightly, arms moving to rest upon his own that still cradled her waist, moon like eyes trail slowly over his every features, breath catching slightly not only at the pure handsomeness of the man holding her, but the way his soul shimmered and glowed with an emerald light she had never seen before. Staring at his chest a moment, she beamed, noting the golden threads flittering around his soul, the colours of his spirit before she left, and realisation befalling her.
By the River Styx.
He had shifted.
Finally looking up to her wolf, the ravenette's eyes furthered widened at the brutish bulk of her friend, his complexion sharpened and dark russet flesh glowing a shade darker then her own, however, slight disappointment settled in as she observed the absence of his beautiful crow black locks.
"You cut your hair." she murmurs dejectedly, understanding that the longer hair was renounced in favour of less fur when shifted, however already missing the silky locks she loved to braid and play with so much only a few months ago.
"You don't like it?" Jacob asks worriedly, desperately trying to meet her eyes.
"No, it suits you." Luna answers, shaking her head to dispel his worries. "I'll just miss braiding it."
The shifter nods, not completely sold, but knowing the ravenette well enough to know that she never said anything she didn't mean.
Looking down at her own corkscrew locks, he takes startled note of her own new hair style, admittedly blushing at how adorable it made the already ethereal girl appear.
Clearing his throat roughly, his large russet hand moves to play with the lone pearlescent curl at the front. "You cut yours too."
"You don't like it." The ravenette hums jovially, reiterating his words before leaning into her wolf's hand as it moves from her curls to cup her cheek.
"No, you look stunning as ever, just a bit put out that you didn't tell me." he chuckles, pouting down at her, still trying to capture her eyes.
Rolling her eyes playfully, the ravenette went to respond in cheek, only for the words to lodge in her throat and her heart to burn aflame within her chest.
Silver pools of moonlight met rich chocolate, the air charging with the intensity of their shared stare as the world was lost to the bond, revealing itself between them. Or at least, being revealed to one of them.
Shaking her head of the haze that had befell her, the ravenette eyes the shifter uneasily, dubiety clouding her mind at the misted eyes of her friend. The emotions within the boy's eyes were lost to the oblivious girl, the longing, adoration, and love all but pooling from his very pores.
