Flame of the Ansestors

Jacob Ephraim Black

Glaring after his packmate, Jacob held his imprint tighter to him to prevent himself from ripping out the hot head's throat, using the sleepy ravenette as an anchor against the volatile thoughts wracking him brain.

The true alpha had known of the imprint the moment it happened, feeling the sensation of a new pack bond snapping into place.

To know that his little moon was now equally bound to Paul Lahote of all people through something as purely, unwaveringly sacred as an imprint bond had his skin flaying with the need to shift.

Jacob was the one to imprint first.

He was the one that met her first.

He was the one that spent countless sleepless night rocking her back to sleep when nightmares fuelled by the memories of her parents murders surfaced.

He was the one that always waited for her to come home.

He was the one that spent almost his entire life loving her.

He was the one that had been her devoted worshiper since the day they first met.

Jacob had been there from the very start, by her side, being everything, she ever needed before he was ever meant to be.

Paul had done nothing but make life more difficult for Luna, teasing her about her hair, commenting on her accent, pushing every button she had until she pushed back – unusually literally.

And yet, despite everything, he still had ended up finding a way to claim his Luna. It was like a punch in the gut. Everything he had ever done thrown back in his face with a single undeserving glance.

While Jacob knew himself not to be worthy of his moon – not that he believed anyone to be – he had tried everything within his power so that he could at least come close to deserving of her.

Paul had never once tried to deserve her and yet by some mistake the ancestors deemed him worthy to bond with her.

Looking down at the tiny ravenette in his arms, drowning in one of his old jumpers that he no longer needed but kept in the Rabbit just for her, he couldn't help but lean down and burry his nose in her raven curls, inhaling her heavenly scent before relaxing slightly at the scent.

The bond was growing stronger between them, electrifying the air while her dark almond skin became all the more tempting by the minute.

His instincts had been pushing him to complete their bond for a while now, but with another wolf having equal claim, those instincts were magnifying dangerously – not to mention the dangers the leeches posed being so close to her every day.

"Jacob?" A soft yawing voice chimed. Turning towards the angelic sound, the wolf looked down at his imprint, chocking his head curiously at her perceptive gaze. "You're upset."

A time ago, before he had officially imprinted on her, it would have shocked the shifter at how easily she read him, as if he were as open a book as the countless novels lining her bedroom walls.

But now all he felt was relief that to a degree, he could now do the same. While he doubted that he'd ever be as perceptive as she was – though he was more aware of romantic emotions then his imprint – he felt more in tune with what she was feeling and why.

Since she had started at Forks Highschool, he'd been a ticking time bomb of nerves with the knowledge that she was so close to the local leeches, he'd even considered transferring to the school to ensure her safety.
