chapter seven

"you look really cute." susannah says to belly.

"belly, you're stunning. cam's jaw is gonna drop." i say, making belly laugh.

"you are going to have so much fun tonight." susannah adds.

"we're just going to see a movie."

"you look nice, hun." laurel compliments her daughter.

"i just can't believe crop tops are back. remember how i thought i was hot as shit in that baby tee i wore freshman year?" susannah says making her and laurel laugh. "have fun tonight."

"are you not driving with us?" laurel asks belly.

uh, oh. what a bad move belly made.

"didn't belly tell you? she has a date." susannah says.

"sorry, mom. his name is cam." belly says excitedly. i could see the sad look on laurels face. i feel bad for her.

"yeah, his mom works at the club. really nice boy, very smart. like, harvard smart." susannah adds to belly's statement.

"it's fine." laurel laughs a bit. "of course you can go. i've dragged you to enough of these book parties over the years. have a great date."

"thank you."

me and belly walk down the stairs. i can practically feel the excitement radiating off her. i just hope this cam guy doesn't hurt her. or i'll be pissed.

belly whispers to me "let's go see the boys. i want to get a reaction out of them."

i giggle at her remark and quickly agree with her.

standing there behind them on the couch she says, "see you later."

and jeremiah is the only one to look up. his face immediately widens as though he's surprised.

"damn." he says, "girls you look hot."

what? it's supposed to be just about belly i seriously don't want the attention on me. i've had enough of it today at the debutante tea party. emphasizing on the interview gigi was giving me.

"thank you." belly says and i just give jeremiah a smile.

"hey, hey, hey, don't go hitting on my little sister." steve says to jere.

"thanks for remembering me, steven." i playfully shout at him and give him the middle finger. whoops. it's just too funny. at least to me.

"yeah, whatever." steven says, "you guys look good though." now dismissing us and going back to the game.

"you driving with us?" jeremiah asks belly.

"no she is not." i say putting my hands on her shoulder and looking over to see jeremiah. "miss belly button has a date."

"jules!"

"whoops. sorry, bels."

"with who?" conrad asks. i shoot him a glare as to not intervene with this.

belly's phone dings and she looks at it smiling all giddy. "uh, bye." she says with a giggle.

after belly leaves the room i go to where jere was sitting previously and pick up the remote.

"what are you doing?" jeremiah comes and sits next to me.

"um. im playing the game isn't that obvious?" i say in a playful tone. this makes him laugh.
