juliana's pov:
i've been going to cousins since i was five years old, with my best friend. her name is belly conklin and we met in kindergarten. soon enough our moms became best friends and the rest is history.
though, i have a feeling that this year will be different. belly and i have changed a lot, both physically and mentally.

"belly!" i yell as i run up the stairs to her bedroom.
"yes, jules?"
"hurry up we're about to leave! with or without you!" i say joking.
"okay! okay! i'm ready. let's go."
we both run down the stairs, rushing to the back seat of the car. this time down steven was driving and we're gonna make sure to annoy him.
kim petra's song can't do better starts playing.
♪ every time she goes through her hair ♪
belly and i join in singing terribly,
"no, i can't let you leave"
"so i kill my insecurities, oh"
"you can't do better"
"oh"
"you can't do better"laurel speaks, interrupting belly and my's singing. "can you guys turn it down a little please?"
"oh of course," steven says gladly to turn it down.
"thank you. but kids, i need you guys to help out more this summer. like don't leave your dishes in the sink, wash them"
laurel starts speaking again, "and not just your own dish, steven."
"what uh, i-"
"i want you to be good houseguests this summer."
"but, uh mom. doesn't susannah has people who clean, right?" steven says back to laurel.
"steven!" scolds laurel.
"ow! alright, alright. sorry."
"just be considerate. steven, that means don't stay out too late."
"mom! i'm too old for some curfew." he whines.
"what about me?" belly buts in, "i don't have a curfew either, right?"
steven laughs at her remark and says "like you need one. it's not like you'll use it. you never leave the house, unless it's to go to jules'."
but, he didn't know how much i took belly to parties with me. sometimes when she's at my house, i usually convince her to go to a party i was invited to. he just never was invited, but that's not my issue.
"we go out, steven. you're just not invited!" i say playfully back to him. i don't really want to sound rude.
"belly, we'll talk about it when it comes up."
"oh, don't forget jules. you're taking me driving." belly says to me. i got my license about two months ago, and i think i'm a decent driver? i don't know, i've hit a few curbs. oh, and a bird once too. it was an accident though, and i cried after.
