Mrs. Namwirote's (Cooheart's mom) POV

I was at one of the mall's jewelry stores trying to choose a new pair of earrings when my phone started to ring.

I immediately took out my phone from my purse when I heard it ringing.

Ordinarily if it was just a generic ringtone  I would have let my phone send the caller to my voicemail, but the ringtone indicated that it was my future so-in-law Doctor Kao trying to reach me. I was eager to hear from him.

"Hello, my son, how are things going?" I asked cheerfully.

Silence. I could hear muffled sobs at the other end. My heart pounded.

"Hey, what's wrong? Tell me, son," I prodded him against the silence and the muffled sobs.

I walked out of the jewelry store and started to make my way out of the mall. Outside of the entrance, I started walking towards the parking lot where I was lucky to find an available spot on ground level.

"Kao?" I continued to urge him to talk.

I started to wonder if it had anything to do with my son.

And then I told myself, of course it's gonna be about your son, you dummy, otherwise he wouldn't be calling you.

"He... he..."

I listened carefully. He was starting to say something between sobs.

"He has decided to ... to ... leave me for that boy toy of his. He... he... told me to go back to Japan and find my future th... there." I heard Kao say.

"Do you want me to talk him?" I asked as if I didn't already know the answer.

"Y...yes, please," he replied.

"Okay," I assured him. "Wait for my call. I will get back to you as soon as I can."

"Th...thank you, mom," I heard him say.

"No worries, son," I said before ending the call.

I drove in the direction of Cooheart's condo unit, my heart pumping hard in anger.

What kind of foolishness was my son up to now. How could he dump Kao, a very successful wound specialist whose career was shining bright, for a no-good boy toy who was probably siphoning off my son's money to give him some temporary pleasure. Based on his looks, he was probably a good ten years younger than my son. He would surely leave my son the moment my son turned old and gray. How dumb and shallow could my son be.

I parked my car outside my son's building and headed straight for the lobby.

The receptionist recognized me and smiled at me.

I smiled back at her and headed for the area where the elevators were and pressed the button on the wall for service.

The moment I reached Cooheart's front door I gave it a hard buzz. Not just one but several until he opened the door.

The moment Cooheart opened the door, I pushed past him and looked around for that no-good boy toy of his.

He was in the kitchen chopping up some onions. Tears were falling from his eyes, but I knew it was because of the onions.

I dragged him out from the kitchen and dragged him towards the front door.

"Get out of here!" I demanded, pushing him out the door.

"Mom!" my son protested, grabbing my arms away from his boy toy and standing between him and me, facing me defiantly.
