The splashing liquids of Waterfall soared through the mystic air, the walls black with soothing cyan sparkles. Undyne, in a glazed suit of towering armour, herself stood atop a spiky hill, overlooking the haze of the Hotlands which sat not far away. She sighed deeply, staring at the white structure which would belong to Dr. Alphys. Her gaze would soon be broken by a vibration in her pocket, causing her to gain her focus back and quickly check it.

Looking at the phone she had in her hand, it was just an announcement that the Undernet was down, to which Undyne groaned, "Dammit, you can do SO much but you can't maintain a damn service," she would remark, before realising the time. It had been almost a week since Papyrus had departed to search for the lost Human, nearly at the deadline for Papyrus, and now it was that time of day for Papyrus to report his status personally, to which Undyne had begun to have enough.

Leaping down from the large mountain range, Undyne trudged through the rocky terrain, remaining in the shadows and watching the residents closely. She then made her way finally to the usual meeting spot, and began to wait, "If he'd known any damn better from his training he would've shifted his bony ass here by now," Undyne muttered to herself impatiently, looking around.

Eventually, her patience wore thin and she went to message him only to be met with that same maintenance notification as last time. Growling, Undyne reluctantly stomped away and into Snowdin Town to find him, kicking about various mid to large rocks in her path with a snide and mean look.

The chill pale air circulated the stomps of her armour, soft snow splattering with each step like liquid. Undyne stood tall, looking around the centre of Snowdin Town. "Hey... what brings you around h-here... Undyne...?" one of the townsfolk asked from below.

Undyne glared down, "Have you seen Papyrus anywhere? He's late," she enquired.

"A-Ah... well... we actually haven't seen him... in a week... we've seen his brother plenty though!" the Monster replied.

Undyne thought for a moment, "Take me to him. He may know," she demanded.

The Monster pointed to Grillby's, the restaurant, "He's i-in there... I h-hope I was of use!" they informed. Undyne just silently trod, ignoring the last comment, to the entrance of the warm restaurant. She stood a moment as she clutched the handle, her scales beginning to boil, before slamming open the door.

The hot air and the cold stares clashed against Undyne, the inhabitants surprised at her sudden appearance, one particular one at the bar peering at her. Sans would sit undisturbed and uncaring just a booth away from that one, slouching over the counter. "You, skeleton, I need to speak with you!" Undyne declared, pointing at Sans. Sans was unresponsive. The blazing atmosphere was beginning to set its toll on Undyne, so she just stomped over reluctantly, "I said, I need to speak-" Undyne was about to repeat, before realising that Sans was just flat out asleep. "...Ugh," she groaned, before gripping his hood and dragging him out of Grillby's.

Undyne threw Sans out onto the snow, "h-huh?" he muttered, opening his eyes. "As I will say for the THIRD time, skeleton, I need to speak with you," Undyne spat.

"yeah, just give me a sec," Sans rubbed his eyes for a moment, "what do you want?" he asked, slightly grouchy.

"Where's Papyrus, he's late for our meeting for the SEVENTH TIME!" Undyne emphasised, crossing her arms as her shadow engulfed him.

"heh heh, how would I know... I've been asleep all this time," Sans reasoned, sluggishly.

Undyne groaned, "This isn't a god damn joke, Sans!" she shouted, "alright, geez, he's... well, I actually don't know," Sans admitted.

Unfolding her arms, Undyne proceeded to stomp away, in the direction of the bridge. "hey... wait a minute," Sans quickly got up, before walking after her. "I'll just find him myself if I can't rely on you," Undyne spoke, still moving. "...aight then," Sans just stopped, staring at her as she slowly diminished from his sight.

Undyne arrived at the bridge, of which was broken. "...This must be where the Human 'fell'. Suppose he did do something after all, if he's down here," Undyne muttered, looming over. She then yelled his name, "PAPYRUS!!" as loud as she can, even rumbling the snow slightly under her fury. But all she could see... was darkness.

Then Undyne turned her head upwards, to the snow-poff-covered landscape that stood on the other side. "Suppose this bridge'll need to be fixed soon," she noted in her head. Then, Undyne spotted something rather unusual, one of the dog sentries just wandering around. "...HEY! You, get back to your post!" she demanded over the distance. The dog, however, just cracked its head towards Undyne, staring right back at her with a rather worn coat. That was when Undyne realised that there were all of them, the Lesser Dog, the Greater Dog, Dogamy and Dogaressa, and even Doggo, all staring with wide eyes.

"...What the hell are they doing..." Undyne mumbled, trying to make sense of them. Suddenly, they began rabidly barking in her direction, snarling and looking as if they were about to lunge into the abyss. "NGAH, you DARE talk back to me?! I said GET BACK TO YOUR POSTS!" Undyne screamed, summoning a spear and clutching it with her hand, pointing.

"undyne," Sans said from behind, "Not now, Sans!" Undyne snarled, "it's urgent," he then informed.

Undyne just looked back, "What do you want!" she enquired in a huff.

"well... I was hoping nobody would find out but... well, there was a human," Sans began to explain, "Human, yes, I know that part, what about them?! Those damn sentries should've captured them by now even," Undyne interrupted.

"that's exactly the thing... the human is... not like any of the others," Sans informed her with restraint, "The hell do you mean?" Undyne dissipated her spear.

"they're infecting the Monster population with some kind of illness."
