"...There," the shopkeeper spat, folding her arms again back in the peculiar room. Sans didn't know what to say, just looking down. "I...I had to leave, because eventually the fire spread to my shop. My sister... I hope at least... was within that fire," she added on, sniffing slightly. "mhm... must've been hard having to leave your sister's kid like that," Sans commented. The shopkeeper gave no response. "but hey, you did what you could. at least now that I've met you I know how to make those cinnamon buns, heh..." Sans grinned.
The shopkeeper then leant off of the wall in response, "I'm going. You can stay in here all you like, skeleton, but I've had enough of your... crap!" she spat, before marching out of the room with the door swung open. "w-wait... s-stop..." Sans stammered, slowly getting up with the help of his pipe, and limping out...
Being greeted by the air and chill of the wind made Sans nearly tumble over, but he held his balance. However she was nowhere in sight. "d-damn it, stop!" he yelled, taking a shortcut to the front of the house, ending up right in front of her stumbling over onto his knees. "What do you want?!" she exclaimed, almost punching him in surprise.
Sans slowly stood up again, panting, "don't... don't leave... I... I don't w-want to fail again... I won't... if I can protect one... f-fucking person... in this entire god damn town... THAT'S all I want... ah..." he rambled, leaning on the pipe again. "Then forgive me, but I don't care. I don't NEED you, no matter what you think. I'll get through to Waterfall even if they bloody kill me for it!" the shopkeeper spat, before marching off into the mist.
Sans was still, just watching her go...
"h...heheh... ahahaha... HAHAHA!!" Sans maniacally giggled, dropping his pipe and slumping to the floor, covering his face, "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HAAAHAAA!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! HA HA HA HAHA HA HA AAHAHA HAHAHAHA HAH HAH AHAHA!!"
The world was a tragedy, Sans's efforts a comedy. His voice was strained.
Sans failed.
"...Jesus, are you that lonely...?" the shopkeeper emphasised, right above him. Sans's attention immediately shot towards her, his eyes wide. "If you're that bloody desperate I guess I'll stick around... but we're getting through Waterfall eventually, you hear?" she compromised, putting her hand out to him. Sans coughed a few times, before taking it, "...thanks," he quietly thanked, picking up the pipe and leaning on it as he was put back on his feet.
