~ 3 Weeks Later~

Since the night where Y/N and Ward shared a moment, they had been rekindling lost time. They hadn't defined what it was yet, it was way too soon, but they felt better knowing they had each other's backs. Y/N had taken more time recovering than she wanted to. Turns out the poison had much more of a toll then she had expected. Today she was finally ready to be back. Y/N went to the lounging area to grab some coffee before debrief, when Skye walked in.

"Morning." She yawned, bringing a cup over.

"Morning." She replied chirpy, "Need a fill?"

"Yeah, thanks." Skye said confused, "What's got you chipper?"

"Nothing." Y/N said trying to remain inconspicuous, "Just woke up on the right side of the bed is all."

"If you say so, weirdo." Skye smiled.

Y/N rolled her eyes, "You're the weirdo."

"Yeah yeah yeah, I know." Skye laughed, "Now let's get our asses to debrief before Coulson notices we aren't there."

"I mean what's he going to do to ground me on my first day back?" Y/N joked before realizing how it sounded in her own mind, remembering the secret she was still withholding.

"You're right." Skye replied, "But it's not my first day back so we should probably go."

Y/N followed Skye to the debrief, the both of them slipping in before Coulson started talking.

"Welcome back, Agent Y/L/N." Coulson nodded as she entered the room.

"Thank you sir." She smiled, "But I've been here the whole time, even out of duty."

"I know, I know." Coulson buzzed, "But still nice to have you back on duty."

"I'm happy to be back." She replied, smiling while slightly glancing in Ward's direction.

"All right, so back to the mission." Coulson continued, "We've received word that a group of people came into a park off the coast of Norway, and were looking for a tree that was meant to contain some sort of Norse legend. Two dead, and one injured saying he witnessed people showing signs of super strength. We need to go find the tree and see what remains, while Skye tracks news outlets to find where these people may go next."

"So we think whatever they found in the tree is the source of their strength?" Ward asked.

"We won't know until Fitz and I get a better look at the remains." Simmons replied.

"So everyone copies?" Coulson asked.

"Copy." They said simultaneously.

Once they had arrived in Norway, the team left the bus going to inspect the scene. Y/N and Ward went to go see the dead bodies, to see if any clues were left behind. As they walked through the forest, Y/N could tell he had something to say.

"Spit it out." She laughed.

"How are you feeling?" Ward asked, "Do you feel ready to be back?"

"Yes." She said, stopping where she was. She cupped his face smiling, "I'm all better." Their moment was short lasted by the awkward cough let out by Agent May who turned out to be walking close by. Y/N smiled awkwardly at her friend as they continued to walk to the scene. When she arrived she was shocked to see what was in front of her. She leaned down to get a closer look at the dead.

"No sane person could do this." She said, "Look how beat up these guys are. I mean whoever did this, they had to have been enraged."

"Agreed." Replied May, "You can barely identify their facial features. Their deaths were slow and painful."

"Law enforcement said they were called, when some nearby hikers heard screaming." Ward added, "They were tortured."

"We should get this to the team," Y/N continued, "See if they found anything."

Ward and May agreed, and they all walked back to the team in silence. Y/N observed Fitzsimmons doing what they always did, analyzing and discovering. Simmons was making her way up the trunk of the tree in question, analyzing where it had been cut. Y/N noticed her mumbling to herself, trying to get ahold of what she was looking at.

"What is it Simmons?" Y/N asked.

"It looks to be some sort of embedment into the tree," She replied, "Symbols engraved into the wood, in a rod shaped indent. I believe it was some sort of staff trapped in the tree."

"A staff?" Coulson chimed in.

"A weapon maybe." Continued Fitz, "Look what type of writing it was." Fitz walked over and handed Coulson the tablet.

Y/N, Ward, Skye and May all walked over too, peering over to look at what the fuss was about. It was like all their eyes had widened at the same time, surprised at what dialect they were looking at.

"Asgardian?" May questioned Fitz.

"Like Thor and Loki?" Skye asked.

"I think that's besides the point," Fitz replied, "In the dialect it translates to death and destruction."

"Great." Y/N sighed, "Well I think we need to do more research into it, understand what exactly we are dealing with."

"Agreed." Coulson answered, "I say we looked into the archives and into books on Norse mythology. See if there are any weapons matching the description we have."

It had been a couple hours back on the plane, and the team had been split into two. One operative was set on monitoring the news and surveillance, seeing if there had been any sign of "supernatural" activity close in the area. The other team was deemed to look through the books and find anything on the weapon encasing they had found. Y/N continuously flipped through the pages of Norse mythology books, skimming each page with her eyes looking for any bread crumbs.

"This is boring." Groaned Skye.

"You know, if you want to become an agent you're going to have to be more enthusiastic about the grunt work." Ward sighed.

"Don't worry, Ward's just trying to pretend like he doesn't hate this as much as you." Y/N whispered to Skye, getting a snicker out of her.

"Talking about me over there, Agent Y/L/N." Ward teased.

"No clue what you're talking about." Y/N teased back.

"If you two lovebirds," Skye chimed in, causing them both to turn red, "Are done, I think I've found something."

Ward and Y/N walked over to Skye to see the book she was looking at. "A weapon that enforces power into whomever carries it. Death and destruction follows. Wielded by a powerful asgardian who came to earth centuries ago, who came to claim earth. Falling in love with humanity he broke the berserker staff into three, to not let the dark magic fall into the wrong hands." Read Skye.

"So what they found was only a fraction of the power." Ward continued.

"Meaning there is more to be found." Groaned Y/N, "Great."
