San Antonio

I looked out the window at the dry, desert like landscape. I've been here a month and I still wasn't used to it.

"That outfit is horrible." my Aunt Gina frowned

Gina was my mom's best friend growing up and she married my mom's brother. But I don't see how my mom stood them. She is a complete opposite from those two wackjobs.

I was on my way to cheer and Gina kept commenting on how I looked like a slut in my sports bra and spandex.

"Well thanks, Aunt Gina. Usually I wear a shirt over but since I knew you loved it so much, I decided not to." I grinned sarcastically

"Thats enough young lady." she glared

I rolled my eyes. San Antonio was a disaster. I have no friends, no life, no nothing. Aunt Gina and Uncle Mark are like nuns. Literally like, I don't know how their three children survive.

"I should have you quit cheer and become a ballet dancer or something." Gina thought out loud

"You're kidding right." I sat up straight and looked at her alarmed

"No. You clearly can't handle it."

"Can't handle it? You're saying I can't handle this? If you must know, my parents thought I could handle it at a young age of 3. They encouraged me to do this and I will keep doing it so I would keep my thoughts to myself if I were you." I said irratated.

It was silent the rest of the way to my gym.

I was cheering for the Texas Stars. Not officially. I had to try out but I came to work on my routine.

"Bye Gina." I said rather monotone as I jumped out of the car

"Aunt Gina." she corrected

I rolled my eyes. This time making sure she could see me.

I walked across the gravel parking lot to the door of my precious heaven and opened it.

"Hey Alex!" the receptionist Kaylee greeted me

"Hi!" I chirped

Cheer really transforms my whole attitude.

I dropped my bag on one of the black plastic chairs and set to work putting on my cheer shoes.

I couldn't help but hear some teenaged boy voices behind me. They were probably here to wait for their sisters. There were some little seven year olds to the side tumbling.

"Hey Alex! You ready?" my coach, Nestor asked me

"Ready as ever." I responded

"We only have one more week so we need to get this down." he said

I nodded and walked onto the blue cheer floor.

"Start streching!" he yelled as he went back into his office

I went through my streching routine and started practicing my tumbling.

"Hey girl! Wait! You don't want to get hurt!" he joked running out to spot me.

After twenty minutes of warming up, I was ready to start practicing my routine.

It was a single person routine but Nestor helped me when I need to do stunts. I had to show everything I was capable of.

The music to S&M by Rihanna flooded through the speakers as I began to move. I started off with a dance until the first verse started. Then I go into a jump sequence. During the chorus, I go into intense tumbling and dancing then I start the second verse by doing a triple back handspring which I have to catapult myself up into the air and onto Nestor's outstreched hand to do my stunts.
