Pretend (Kel x reader)

𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙜 𝙃𝙖𝙨 𝙑𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖

Aubrey promptly stood upon the throne as some godly character in his eyes. She was given the role to be queen! Well, for this session of pretend anyway. Mari had an idea to do a little pretend since her and Sunny's parents weren't home, and they were all bored. Because of this, Aubrey gets to sit on a throne of pillows and watch the mayhem, wearing a dainty pink dress and a lovely crown with a robe.

"Man, how come she's the ruler this round?" Kel complained. "Because I'm more royal than you!" Aubrey explained before sticking out her tongue at Kel.
 "At least you're the knight." Mari said, watching in a chair nearby. "Those are the mighty roles in the kingdom, and help out by protecting the kingdom physically, along with our queen who helps out by commanding!"

 "Heyy, that does sound pretty good! And it makes the queen sound lazy!" Aubrey gave Kel a stare as Kel stared back and stuck out his tongue back at her. Aubrey looked like she was about to fume with anger.

 "Guys guys guys! Each role here is important, even the bad guys, to make the plot!" Mari assured the two. Basil came out with a gardener based outfit while Sunny came out dressed as an owl.

 "Why is Sunny an owl?" Aubrey asked. "I'll explain later." Mari patted Aubrey on the back. Aubrey stared at her confused.
 Hero came out with a dark purple cape and a witch hat on, holding a mop dyed in red and some very comfy looking slippers. "Alright, I think this is evil enough."

 "Woa, Hero! You're a cool looking witch!" Basil admired. "Well, I'm technically supposed to be a wizard, but thanks." Hero smiled.

 "One evil, charming wizard at that." Mari smugly said, Hero turning slightly red. "Mari, c'mon, not right now..."

 "Wait!" Kel interrupted. "Where's (Y/N?)?"

 Mari turned over to Kel and smiled. "I think that's where Sunny comes in." Mari looked over to the owl in the room. "Alright, Sunny! Explain the story!"

 "Does I have to be an owl for this?" Sunny asked. "Yes." Mari replied in happy tone. "It's more fitting."

Sunny sighed and cleared his throat before saying:

 "𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦'𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦 𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘧..... 𝘶𝘩...."
 
"Farrule." Mari inserted.

"𝘙𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦. 𝘋𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵."

"𝘈𝘏𝘌𝘔-- 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘈𝘶𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘯𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨!"

 That was your cue. I guess all that listening in did pay off since Hero motioned you over to come over from the doorway. You wore a [Insert dress/suit of your choice] and [shoes of your choice also :D] that glistened in the light of the lightbulb from above.

 "Woah..." Kel stared in wonder. "(Y/N), lookin' good!" He complimented you, you could see a gleam in his eyes.

 "Oh, thank you!... but is this too much?" You asked, staring down at your choice in clothing.

 "Not at all!" Kel quickly said. He suddenly realized the sudden answer he gave. "It- fits pretend even more!"

 "Of course you'd say that." Aubrey rolled her eyes. Kel's eyes widened and looked at Aubrey with a confused look. "H-HEY! What do you mean by that-?"

 "A-HEM." Sunny interrupted. "Moving forward...." He continued:

 "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤. 𝘕𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰. 𝘚𝘰, 𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.

 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘒𝘌𝘓 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘉𝘙𝘈𝘝𝘌!" 

"YEAH!" Kel cheered before flexing a little and giving a wink. You giggled a little, which made him
give a small glance.

 "𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘩, 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘩... 𝘈𝘕𝘠𝘞𝘈𝘠𝘚 𝘒𝘦𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴-- 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦, 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺-- 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳. 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘩, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘪𝘵."

 "ALRIGHT!" Kel said, throwing his arms up in excitement. "I won't let you down, (Y/N)!" He pointed to you, as his eyes gleamed. You liked where this was heading already as Hero took you off into the other room to be "kidnapped".

 "Alright!", Mari said, "Let the challenges BEGIN!"

 Kel was traversing rooms through the house, talking to "npcs" such as Basil, the gardener, with his friend, the owl who is totally not Sunny, who gives him opportunities to get a snack and allow him to have breaks. Kel then begins through challenges. Challenges that consisted of searching for a way out of covers that were being held up by chairs and looking for a cardboard key in the dark. Even taming the evil chimera with ease! (which was just Mewo with a sock on). Kel was quick and swift getting all these things. Even Mari was following him in amazement witnessing him through all his unique feats.

 As impressive as that is, being "kidnapped" by Hero wasn't so bad. Since you were doing this whole pretend thing at Sunny's house, you were outside in the backyard as Hero brought cookies along, you were munching on them peacefully as you stood in a chair with some cardboard rolls surrounding you as a jail. They were really getting creative with pretend.

 Just as you finished eating cookies, Kel burst through the door with a toy sword in hand. "NERDY WIZARD!"

 Hero whipped around from his pile of cookies waiting on a plate. "Wh- EXCUSE ME-?"
 
"Hand over the descent or I'll MAKE YOU!" Kel said, pointing his sword forward at Hero. "Oh, really now?" Hero tilted his head.

 "Yeah!" Kel stepped forward.

 "I bet you don't have the guts!" Hero narrowed his eyes, looking down at Kel.

 "I've got plenty of guts!" Kel puffed up his chest. "More guts then you'll ever have!"

 "Well then come at me!" Hero challenged, extending his mop as a weapon. The battle has
began. Hero swung at Kel, as Kel deflected with his cardboard sword. They clashed as they
swung their own weapons, Kel dodging the range of the mop and Hero backing away from the quick Kel and his speeds.

 Everyone else was watching from behind, Sunny holding a sleeping Mewo in his arms.

 "Go Kel!" Basil cheered shyly as Sunny managed a thumbs up to that statement with Mewo turning in Sunny's arms. "Show 'em who's boss, Kel!" Aubrey yelled. You looked in shock to see things so intense. This was fun to watch. Kel and Hero were putting up quite a show, after a bit Mari coming back for a little amount of time throwing in two pillows as sheilds for the two.

 You wanted to just give a small cheer.

 You cupped your hands together and screamed "I BELIEVE IN YOU KEL!"

 Kel jumped from hearing your voice, making him accidentally get hit by Hero's mop in the face. "OW!" He recoiled. Kel looked a little red in the face, but you couldn't tell if it was from the cheer or the mop.

 "Shoot!" Hero didn't expect to actually do that. "Are you okay Kel?"

 Kel didn't quite answer, but instead grabbed Hero's mop when he was vulnerable in that moment and toss it to the side, everyone gasping in the revelation. Kel pointed his sword towards Hero.

 "It's over, you're unarmed!" Kel promptly said with a confident look.

 "Is it now?"

 Kel's hand suddenly got hit with a ball, knocking his sword out of his hands.
 It was Mari.

 She was dressed in a dark pink dress and black shoes, with a little Witch hat. "You thought that'd be all?" Mari asked, tilting her head, and then looked at Hero. "I'll handle this from here, Hero." He stood there for a moment before nodding to her as he began shuffling to the side.

 Mari drew a bat out, as she pointed it to Kel. "Shall we?" Kel stood there for a moment. He stared at her, before glancing at you.

 Kel suddenly began charging towards you. Before you could even say a word, he tossed one of the cardboard rolls aside, making all of them fall, and just swung you around to carry you bridal style.

 "Kel, what are you doing with (Y/N)--"

"TRY AND CATCH ME SUCKERS!" Kel screamed before charging out of the Treehouse, struggling to climbing down before dropping a reasonable distance to the ground and rushing off. The others could only watch in silence to what just happened.

 Kel ran back to Sunny's House, halfway there he set you on your feet and lead you back the whole way. He then shut the backdoor and decided to rest on the wall, sliding onto the floor.

 "Kel... what the hell was all that?"

 "I-- have no idea." Kel said, out of breath. He deeply exhaled and just stared at you as you just walked over to the kitchen. You went into the fridge to get some water and grabbed a cup of water for him too. You handed it over to him.

 "Um, thanks." He said, proceeding to chug down the whole glass of water. You simply took time with yours. You slid onto the floor beside him. There was a moment of silence.

 "Looks like they didn't catch me..." Kel realized.

 "Suckers." He chuckled to himself.

 "Yeah, well, you did go running away out of nowhere." You decide to remind him.
 "I know, I know." He still chuckled a bit. "But as long as I got you, that's all I need to feel successful!" He stood up putting his hands on his hips, closing his eyes and smiling.
 
"As long as you have me?" You tilted your head in curiosity.
 
"I mean, who wouldn't be happy to have you?" Kel sat down beside you. "You're incredible, sweet, and incredibly cute."
 
"...Forget the last part."
 
"..I don't think I will." You smiled at him. "You're a joy and a sweetie, you know that?" Kel scratched the back of his head and looked away from the compliment. "Awh, we're really complimenting each other now? I wouldn't be able to shut my mouth if I had to do that!"
 
"Really? You actually mean that?" Your eyes widened looking at him.
 
"I- uh..." Kel stopped for a moment. He looked down at the floor, going a little red. "I mean, yeah. Yeah I do. You're a joy yourself, and you always get me a little pumped up to start my day. Everytime I think of you I get all happy and warm and-- I don't know it's a nice feeling. It gets better whenever I'm around you, and sometimes I just want to-"... He stopped himself. "SORRY I'm probably saying too much, ha ha." He said, and dug his head into his arms.

 You were a little shocked at this. Sure, you two were close, but you didn't expect feelings attached.

 You were a little shocked, but at the same time, glad.

 "Not at all!" You shook your head. You then looked at the floor yourself. "Kel, it's sorta funny." You said. "I get that feeling a lot." You began to draw your finger on a circle on the floor. You could feel Kel look back at you.

 "It's the same feeling I get from you. You're always so great and I.. kinda lik--" But before you could say another word, Sunny opened the backdoor.

 "OH!" Kel whipped around. "Sunny! About time one of you showed up! What took so long?"

 "Apparently there was cookies on the table in the treehouse, and they still had to clean some stuff up. Aubrey ate most of the cookies, but me and Basil saved some for you two." Sunny opened the backdoor even more to show Basil holding a ziplock with some cookies.

 "Thanks!" Kel got up and took the ziplock. He began turning around and going to the kitchen, but not before realizing you weren't following.

 "C'mon! We're gonna share these right?" He dangled the ziplock in his hand with a wink. You scoffed with a smile.

 "Sure thing."

 "Great!" He gently grabbed you by the hand, before dragging you off to the counter. You happily follow him.
