Soon enough night fell, and I was sitting by myself away from the main crash sight. It was getting too loud for my liking so I decided to move away and enjoy the new point of view I had of the stars. Sadly my moment of peace was interrupted by the person I least wanted to see.
"Hey, can I join you?" Wells asked as he sat down next to me.
"No, but you're already sitting down so..."
"Look...I'm sorry about what happened to you. I'm sorry my father didn't believe you, but I'm not him. I didn't believe the rumors about you for one second.-"
"The rumors were true. That's the only part they got right..." I let out a sigh. "Look Wells, I'm sorry for acting like a bitch towards you it's just-"
"I remind you of my father." He said understandingly.
"Yeah, but I shouldn't take my anger out on you. I know you're not your father so I shouldn't treat you like I would him. I'm sorry." He smiled.
"No problem." He stood up extending his hands towards me. "Let's go closer to camp. They have a fire going and it's getting cold out here." I smile gratefully at him as I take his hand and walk towards the fire with him, hearing the cheers and yells get louder and louder.
"What the hell are they doing?" I squint trying to make out what was happening by the fire.
Wells and I looked at each other as we hurried our pace. Once we were close enough we saw Murphy removing a girl's wristband and throwing it in the fire as the others chanted and cheered.
"Who's next?" Bellamy yelled excitedly at the crowd. His eyes met mine. "Come on Sunshine. Free yourself." He reached out for me but I backed away.
"No. What is wrong with you Blake?" Bellamy looked taken aback by my reaction but kept his composer.
"What the hell are you doing?" Wells asks him.
"We're liberating ourselves. What does it look like?"
"It looks like you're trying to get us all killed." I roll my eyes at his ignorance.
"The communication system is dead. These wristbands are all we got. Take them off, and the Ark will think we're dying. That it's not safe for them to follow."
"That's the point, Chancellor." Bellamy interrupts him. "We can take care of ourselves. Can't we?" Loud chants in agreement followed.
"You think this is a game?" I walked up to Bellamy, my hands crossed over my chest. "Those aren't just our friends and parents up there." I turn to talk to the rest of the group. "They're our farmers, doctors, engineers. I don't care what he tells you." I point at Bellamy. "We won't survive on our own." I turn to look back at Bellamy confused. "And besides, if it really is safe, how could you not want the rest of our people to come down?"
