Jasper

Alice's labor had been complicated, so after some deliberation, the doctors and nurses decided to anesthetize her and perform an emergency c-section.

"Jazz..." she slurs.

"It's alright, darlin', I'll be here when you wake up." I hold her hand as she goes under and I release a deep breath as her eyes close.

——————-

A while later, I hear a loud cry and I shoot out of my seat just in time to see my child for the first time.

"Congrats," One of the nurses says. "it's a girl."

I cut the umbilical cord and become antsy as they clean and weigh her. Finally, when she's all clean and wrapped in a blanket, they place her in my arms and walk out to give us some space.

"Hello little love." I say softly. "I'm your dad."

She opens her eyes and my breath catches when she looks at me. "You're beautiful, just like your mother. Don't worry, she'll be awake soon. She'll be so excited to meet you."

I  smile and twist a little curl around her head. "You've got my hair. I feel bad, but don't worry, I'll teach you to how to tame it."

I hold her until Alice wakes up and I sit on the hospital bed next to her and place our daughter in her arms.

"She's beautiful." My wife cries.

"She really is." I wrap an arm around her and use my free hand to gently hold one of our newborn's.

"Jazz, she looks just like you." She smiles.

"Poor kid." I say with a bit of sarcasm and Alice elbows me a little and I can't help but laugh.

A nurse comes back in with an empty birth certificate. "What's her name?" He asks.

"Thea." I say, looking at Alice.

"Her name is Thea Grace Whitlock-Hale." Alice adds.

"Welcome to the world, Thea."
