Alice

My internal alarm clock wakes me up at an ungodly hour of the morning and I groan, burying myself further into the blankets as I try to fall back asleep.

Then I feel a pair of arms wrap around me and I jump a little.

"Shh, it's alright. It's just me, love. Go back to sleep."

I wake up only enough to see that I've been moved and I look down to see that my husband has pulled me as close to him as he possibly could.

"Jazz..." I mumble.

"Shh, Alice." He rubs my back and I settle down and close my eyes, burying my face in his chest. The sound of his heartbeat lulls me back to sleep.

The next time I wake up, it's still dark out, but one blurry glance at the clock tells me it's almost time for us to get up and start the day.

I bury my face back in his chest and let out a long, deep sigh.

Jasper's soft laugh rumbles through my body and I pout.

"Do we have to get up? I'm so tired and I just want to lay here forever."

He presses a kiss to my temple and gives me a lazy grin when I look up at him.

"How are you so awake, and why do you always look so angelic in the mornings?"

He laughs again. "Angelic?"

"Yes! Especially when the sun's just starting to peek over the horizon and the rays wash over you and bathe you in a golden light and—— "

I stop halfway through my sentence because he's giving me the most amused look I've ever seen on him.

"Sorry..." I say softly. "I was rambling again, wasn't I?"

"Yes, you were. And it was absolutely adorable."

"Please just ignore everything I've said in the last few moments."

He chuckles. "Nah, I don't think I will. I liked everything you said."

I groan for the second time. "Congrats babe, you're officially the worst." I say sarcastically.

"Thanks, darlin'," he replies in the same tone. "I'll treasure that title for the rest of my life."

I shove him as hard as I can, which isn't every much in my tired state, and it causes him to laugh again. "You're really something, aren't you Alice?"

I give him the best smile I can muster and he does a laugh/snort combo then presses a kiss to my temple again.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means that I love you, baby."

"Oh. Well, I love you too, Jazz."

He gets up and gets ready for a cold morning of ranch chores. I curl up under the blankets again and inhale his scent still left on the pillow.

"I'll see you downstairs. It's definitely all hands on deck this week if we want to get the far field ready for training and competitions."

I give him a halfhearted salute. "Put the coffee pot on for me, will ya?"

"Yes ma'am." He kisses the tip of my nose and rest my hand against his cheek for a second before he moves to the door. "Don't take too long."

"I won't. Someone's got to make sure you put something other than coffee in your system."

He scoffs and I catch him rolling his eyes as he walks out of our room.
