Alice

"Jasper, what are we doing?" I readjust the backpack strap on my shoulder. "Don't you think it's a little too cold for waterfall hiking? It is autumn, need I remind you." I tell my boyfriend.

"We're almost there, Alice. You're going to love it."

"Love what?!" I exclaim. "We've been walking for a while and I haven't seen anything but rocks and trees and dirt."

"Alice, if you stop complaining, then you'll see we're here."

My eyes widen when I see the waterfall. "Oh wow."

Jazz looks at me smugly and I shove his shoulder. "Shut up."

We sit on an old log and watch the waterfall in silence. I pull out my phone to snap a few photos every once in a while.

"So," I say as I rest my head on his shoulder. "Why'd you bring me here."

"I— well— um—" He runs a shaky hand through his hair.

"Hey, what is it? Are you okay? You look nervous about something."

"I'm okay. You go back to your photos."

I shrug and do as he says.

"Alice, quick a squirrel!" Jazz says a few minutes later.

"Squirrel? Where?" I turn around, only to be met with him down on one knee.

"Oh my god." I gasp.

"Alice, I saw you at school for the first time when you were wearing those godawful platform shoes..."

"They weren't awful!" I protest. "I loved those shoes!"

"Sorry darlin', they really were awful. Which brings me to my next point, you running into me and nearly crushing my foot."

"And yet you were the one who apologized." I say with a laugh. "You tipped an invisible cowboy hat and said 'Sorry ma'am.' I think I fell in love with you right then and there."

"I was about to say the same thing." Jazz says. "Despite the shoes."

I shake my head and gesture for him to continue.

"You've been there through all the best and worst parts of my life. You are truly remarkable, Alice. I hope you know that I'll always be there for you too."

"I know Jazz." I blink away tears.

"Alice Cullen, I love you so goddamn much. Will you do me the extraordinary honor of becoming my wife?"

I hold a hand to my mouth and nod. "Yes Jasper, yes!"

I fall to my knees and he slides the ring onto my finger. I wipe away some tears and I hear him sniffle.

"Why are you crying, Jazz?" I choke out a laugh.

"Sorry love. They're happy tears, I promise."

I find myself in his lap. "C'mere." I murmur and hug him tightly. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"Okay, so I guess it was worth it to come all the way out here."

"You guess?"

"Shut up." I tell my now fiancé. "Just kiss me, Jazz."

"Yes ma'am."
