"i love d and d!" erica called out as they left the high school. "lady applejack is too strong!" lucas laughed as he wrapped an arm around his sister, which she quickly shrugged off. "you can't keep killing my bad guys so quickly! we'll finish the campaign before spring break!" will complained as they walked to nathan's car. "i'm so sorry i'm so good at the game." erica joked, before turning to lucas. "come on, mom's gonna kill us." she told him as they went to their mom's car.
"kasey, do you need a ride?" nathan asked, not seeing many other cars in the parking lot. "no, but thank you. see you guys tomorrow." she waved as she ran off. the rest of the party climbed into nathan's car, beginning their usual route home. "nate, you're quiet." will muttered, looking at his boyfriend, who seemed spaced out. "shit shit shit, nate? nate?" he called out. "sorry, i'm here, i'm just thinking." nathan muttered, giving a soft smile to will.
"not often you hear will swearing." mike marveled, his eyebrows raised. "i don't think now is the time." dustin whispered across eleven. "it's fine. it's okay." will sighed, shaking his head. "bye mike, have a goodnight." nathan bid as mike climbed out of the car. "bye nate." he replied before slamming the car door shut.
"el, are you okay?" dustin asked, turning to face her. "mm. yeah." she nodded, a soft smile on her face. "just... nervous, like everyone else." she muttered, shrugging. "it's okay, el, we're all nervous." will assured softly, turning to face her.

"what are you doing up?" nathan turned his head to see joyce walking out the front door, a pink fuzzy robe wrapped around her body. "i, uh... i can't sleep." he half lied, blowing the foul smelling smoke out of his mouth. "you and will doing alright?" she asked as she sat next to him, slightly cringing at the smell of the weed. "yeah, yeah we're great. i think i'm ready to tell him i love him." he said slowly, leaning his head on her shoulder. "i'm proud of you for being ready for that." she told him with a smile.
"we had a lot of fun at hellfire, erica's character is really strong." he spoke softly, a smile on his face. "erica is lucas's little sister, right?" she asked curiously. "mhm, she's still in middle school but she's funny and really good at the game." he explained, before sitting up and taking a drag from his joint, blowing the smoke away from her.
"what about that other girl? who has a crush on you? katie?" she asked, lighting a cigarette. "kasey has a crush on me?" he asked with his eyebrows furrowed. "el said kasey liked you at one point, but maybe not anymore." she shrugged, taking a drag from her cigarette. "you know i love you, right?" she asked him, turning to face him. "i love you too, you're like the mom i never got." he gave her a soft smile, before hugging her. "please be safe from this vecna guy, i don't want to lose you." she muttered as she hugged him back, trying not to cry.
"i'll be safe, joyce, i promise you i will."
