Steve's not having a good day to say the least. When he got in the car yesterday after practice his dad yelled at him because he 'could tell Steve didn't try hard enough' because 'he wasn't tired enough'.
Yeah.
Then after his dad finally let him go up to his room, Steve couldn't stop thinking about Eddie. Apparently finding someone else that- has similar interests as you- makes your problems about ten times worse.
So now he's leaned up against his locker with his eyes closed, waiting for Tommy to shut the fuck up so he can have one moment of peace. "Hey you know what, I actually heard Carol talking about you this morning- you should go talk to her man." Tommy's eyes bugged out of his face and he nodded his head slowly before speeding down the hallway.
"Thank fuck." Steve hit his head back against the locker and huffed. I need a smoke.
He turned on his heel and walked out the back doors, sitting on the top of a picnic table and pulling a loose cigarette out of his pocket. He reached in the other to get his lighter and groaned when it was empty. Steve turned around but stopped when someone opened the door.
Eddie groaned at the sight of Steve and turned back towards the school. "Hey wait! You got a lighter?" Eddie stopped and turned around with a raised brow, "why else would I be coming out here Harrington? For a stroll?"
Steve rolled his eyes, "okay asshat, can I use it or not?" The boy walked over to him and dropped it in his hand and leaned against the table until he got it back. Eddie turned away again and started walking back into the school. "Hey where are you going? You can stay out here ya know? I'm not gonna bother you."
The boy slit his eyes and cautiously leaned against the brick wall. "You lonely or something Harrington?" Steve turned his back to him, "just trying to be nice Munson." Eddie snorted back at him and lit his blunt, "did you already go through your buy?"
Steve turned around with his brows furrowed. "You're smoking a cig but you just bought from me yesterday." Eddie pointed at the cigarette in his hand and took a drag. "Oh yeah I don't smoke that stuff at school- too risky for me. I barely smoke at all at school, special occasion I guess."
Special occasion, yeah. Just Steve hating his life about two, three days a week is all.
"Actually Munson, you got anything stronger for me?" The boy's eyes widened and he nodded his head slowly. "It's in my locker but-"
Steve hopped off the table and threw his cigarette on the ground. "I'll see you at lunch."
He got inside as the bell rang for the next period and walked to his class- Tommy finding his way to his side as he walked. "Bro you were so right! I talked to her and she asked if I wanted to hangout this weekend."
Had Steve actually cared at the moment, he'd be pretty happy for Tommy. But he's exhausted and frustrated. Just wants to kiss the damn boy who barely wants to talk to him. "Yeah that's cool man." And that's how he stayed, like the day before he waited for lunch and more or less sprinted out the door yelling to Tommy that he'd be late again.
He sat on the picnic table with his leg bouncing and only moved an inch when he heard the leaves crunch. His head flew up to the sight of a curly haired boy who had a small amused smile gracing his face. "You happy to see me or what Harrington?"
Steve shook his head, "you, the drugs, whatever makes you feel good sweetheart." Eddie stopped in his spot, but just rolled his eyes and dropped the tin lunch box on the table. "I have a new one if you want to try it, I haven't tried it yet so I can't tell you how strong it is."
Steve's eyes lit up and he looked down at the boy, "we could try it now if you want. I'll even pay if you still need me too." Eddie looked up at him with a raised brow, "you want to smoke- with me? Here?"
"Yeah I don't see why not. Unless you're scared of me Munson, is that it?" It's not that Steve actually thought Eddie was scared of him, it was that Steve was scared Eddie just didn't like him.
"Shut the hell up Harrington, I'm not scared of you." He slammed the lid open and looked up at Steve, "one blunt and that's it, okay?" Steve bit back a smile and ruffled the boy's hair, "fine with me." He laid back on the table and wrapped himself in the silence of Eddie's focus.
"Oh fuck!" Steve flew up at the sound of Eddie wheezing and laughed at the boy's face. "That good?" Eddie rolled his eyes and shoved the blunt towards him, "I need to fuckin sit down."
Steve took a drag, but he didn't cough. Instead he let it burn through his lungs and it sent a shiver down his spine. He groaned and closed his eyes, laying back onto the table. "What the hell was that?" Steve smiled at the confusion in his voice and passed the blunt back.
"I could get off on that shit Munson." Eddie choked again but not on the smoke, "you better buy some then cause you're not getting off around me." Steve sat up with a mischievous smile, "oh come on, really? And here I thought you were starting to like me."
"Even if I was-" Eddie turned towards Steve and put the blunt between his lips. "-you're straight, so shut up before you say something you'll regret." Steve inhaled again and let the shiver run down his back before he looked back down at Eddie. "Who told you that?"
"Told me what, Harrington?"
Steve shrugged, "that I was straight. I know I haven't kissed a guy, but that doesn't mean I'm not a fairy. I'd look damn good with some wings."
Eddie took the blunt from Steve with wide eyes. "Okay big boy I think you've had enough." Steve groaned and tried taking it back, "we're sharing Munson, don't be rude to your favorite customer." Eddie's eyes shot around the woods with emergence, "did I miss them? Are they here?"
"Asshole." Steve huffed and laid back on the table, crossing his arms over his chest. "Awe come on Stevie, you know I'm joking." Eddie stood up and almost fell over from the feeling in his legs, but nonetheless walked over so he was standing over Steve's head with an amused grin.
He put the blunt between Steve's lips and patted his cheek. "Better?" Steve closed his eyes and took in the burn again, a groan leaving his mouth from the feeling. "Fuck yes." Eddie rolled his eyes and plucked the blunt away, "okay now you're definitely done."
He sat up with a droopy smile and watched Eddie walk back to his lunchbox. "I mean I'm not done quite yet, but I bet if you helped me I would be pretty quick." Eddie's head fell back and a loud laugh left his lips. God those fucking lips.
"You're cute Harrington, nice try. Take a breath before you go back in so you don't look like a total dope."
"You think I'm cute?"
Eddie slit his eyes at him with a small smile, "oh I think you're adorable. I'll see you here tomorrow if you actually want to buy some." A groan left Steve's lips and he fell back onto the table. "I'll see you tomorrow sweetheart." He gave Eddie a thumbs up and listened to the leaves crunch underneath his feet as he walked back to the school.
"This motherfucker thinks I'm adorable. What the hell?" Steve rolled over onto his stomach and hit his head against the table. "He thinks I'm adorable?" He rolled back onto his back, "he thinks I'm god damn adorable." Steve sat up immediately and smiled at the tree across from him. "Eddie Munson thinks I'm adorable."
