Steve was an animal at basketball that night- having energy for once to care about it and be exhausted by the end of it. His dad gave him a grunt when he got in the car, but when they got home he patted him on the back before Steve went up to change.

A pat on the fucking back.

But now he's back at school, tired but also with a certain energy keeping him going. He opened his locker to find a little piece of paper sitting on the edge.

Hey Harrington, it's supposed to storm today so we probably won't be able to meet outside. Try again tomorrow. ♡

"That from the girl you've been skipping out on lunch for?" Steve's head flew up to Tommy standing next to his locker with his brow raised. "What- I haven't been seeing anyone, the hell are you talking about?"

"You've skipped out on lunch two days in a row now."

Steve stuffed the note in his pocket and grabbed his book for the next period. "And? If you missed me so much you could've just said so." Tommy shoved his shoulder, "come on Harrington tell me who it is."

"Your lovely mother, Tommy" And then separated with him, walking into class. Steve pulled the note out and stared at it, one specific part. He drew a heart. It's stupid, but adorable. Goddamn adorable.

But now he wasn't going to see him all day and the thought made him groan, slumping down into his desk. I wonder if he's smoking right now, I could- fuck god. No that'd be way to stalkery. He threw his head down onto the desk and cursed at it.

And Eddie was right, it started storming towards the end of first period and kept going. Steve slumped into the lunch room and sat down in a chair across from Tommy and the other idiots from the basketball team.

"No girlfriend today Stevie?" One of the older guys looked down the table at him with an amused glint in his eye. "Fuck off." Another guy spoke up, "oh come on Steve! Tell us about her!" Tommy looked down at them with a smirk, "come on guys leave him alone. He's upset because he couldn't get any today."

Steve's eyes moved over to Eddie's table and felt the butterflies erupt when he saw the smile he had from ear to ear. "Poor Stevie! Two days in a row isn't good enough?" All the guys at the table started laughing and Steve's eyes about popped out of his head as Eddie glanced over to the jackasses at the table.

Eddie's eyes met Steve's and he looked surprised at first, only to shake his head and give him an amused smile. Steve motioned his head to the door and Eddie shook his head no. He groaned and hit his head on the table.

"Yeah she even left a note in his locker this morning. Tell us what it said Harrington, come on."

"Yeah Stevie let's hear it!"

The guys started hitting the table and chanting his name. "Oh for fucks sake!" Steve stood up and put the little piece of paper in his hand. "Stevie, I'm sorry but I can't see you today. I think Tommy's becoming suspicious and his dad might be on to us. Love, Mrs. H." Steve gave them a tight smile and threw his food away, winkin at Eddie from across the room and walking out.

He tucked the note in his back pocket and opened his locker to grab a cigarette. "Harrington!" Steve looked around his locker to see Eddie walking towards him. He bit back a smile and closed his locker door, "Munson." He leaned against his locker and Eddie motioned his shoulder, "come on. It's not the woods, but it'll work."

"Thought you said no." Eddie peered over his shoulder and gave him a smile. "Changed my mind." Steve let his smile show when Eddie turned back around and followed him out the doors, "knew you liked me."
