The rest of the day somehow went slow and fast all at the same time. Steve couldn't stop staring at his hand for the rest of the day, only stopping when he knew Eddie was nearby and he could look at the real deal. So that's how he spent most of his classes, not learning a damn thing and daydreaming until basketball practice. And then that went slow, he wanted it to be over the second he got there, because how was he supposed to think about Eddie holding his hand if he had to try to focus on the damn game?
Of course his dad yelled at him when he got in the car, but the second it was over he forgot about it and went back to his head, his safe place, the one place he can go to make himself believe that there's some sort of chance for him. For him and Eddie. That's how he went to sleep and that's how he was almost late for school.
Three days till they got to hangout again, three days till he would get to be clingy and be with Eddie. Because yes, Steve can admit to himself that he's clingy. And Wednesday was the longest fucking day ever, he tried his best to keep his eyes to himself, to be social with guys, to not act like he was not slowly deteriorating from withdrawals. Because this crush was swiftly turning into a full blown obsession and Steve was trying to assure himself that it wasn't weird, or creepy, and that he wasn't insane.
Two days, two days now. A little note wouldn't be awful right? Just something stupid. It was first period and Steve was sitting there staring at a ripped piece of paper trying to figure out what the hell he could write on it that didn't sound idiotic.
Friday. One more day. One more day and he'd get to be with him. Although Steve's not one hundred percent sure what he's supposed to be looking forward to. Popcorn and a movie like last time? Maybe they'll talk more this time, maybe he'll get to learn more about Eddie. Of course Steve hasn't come to the terms that he's become borderline obsessive over the boy, he just wants to be with him.
And by the end of the day Friday there was a small piece of paper containing Eddie's address in Steve's locker, signed with a heart. He looked over to Eddie's locker with a shit eating grin that only grew when his crush winked at him. Steve retaliated by rolling his eyes, but maybe also to turn around and hide his blush as he shoved the note in his pocket. He didn't want to go yet though, he wanted to talk to Eddie before he left for basketball practice, maybe to straighten out their plans, whatever they could talk about.
So, he looked over at Eddie and nodded towards the door, promising with the point of his finger that it would only be a second. Eddie obliged with a roll of his eyes, shutting his locker and walking down the long hallway to the glass double doors.
"Harrington I'm thinking I need to dock this time from when we hangout tomorrow." Eddie's unamused eyes made Steve's heart sink just a bit, but he fought it back because he knew he probably deserved it. He kept pulling Eddie away from his friends and barely giving him any space. Hell, the two of them have barely been friends for a week and Steve can't stop thinking about him, he can't begin to imagine how it's making the other boy feel.
"Yeah- uh. M'sorry about that. You know actually, it's cool if you don't want to hangout. I know I keep asking and you're obviously kinda busy. I can find something else to do- I-I just don't want to bother you sweetheart. Don't want you to feel like you have to say yes, you know?" There was zero eye contact made as he went on, but he couldn't look at him. Steve was genuinely starting to feel bad for how he's been acting, acting like a damn idiot around Eddie any chance that he got and not thinking about it. He didn't want to play with his feelings, Steve has no idea what he wants or what he's doing. But he likes Eddie, he at least thinks he does.
Eddie's eyebrows flew and furrowed many times, there was no way he could figure out what was going on in Steve's head; Steve can't even do that. But he stepped toward the nervous boy cautiously and put a hand on his forehead, "you okay Harrington? Look like you're about to black out on me. If you found something else you'd rather do then go ahead, but I already said I'd hangout with you, and I'm not really that busy. You just caught me on the one day I had something to do."
