Cameron's POV

5:15 in the morning. We had seriously stayed out all night. Wren and me spent another 2 hours in the McDonald's just talking and being with each other. Before we left, we payed for 2 large coffees.

"Staying up all night is a lot of work", Wren said as she stifled a yawn.

"Worth it though", I said as I snaked my arm around her waist. We headed straight for our spot on the beach. It guess it just seemed right to end the night where we started. Just the 2 of us and the ocean.

We sat down and starred at the sea. The sun began to rise and the brand new sunlight glinted on the water so beautifully and I never wanted to leave. And she never wanted to leave. And that moment was the best of the summer.

Wren's POV

I barely made it home before 6:00. Lucky for me, no one was awake. My sneaking out had been a wild success.I sighed as I began to throw some clothes in my suitcase.

'I miss Cameron', I thought to myself. The clock read 6:03 which marked exactly 5 minutes since I last saw him. But I couldn't get enough. He promised to meet me at the airport for a final goodbye. Just the thought made me upset.

I heard a knock on my door and turned around to see Halley entering my room with her fully packed suitcase. "How was your night out?", she asked. I froze. How did she know? Oh God, I'm screwed.

"What...?", I stuttered. So much for playing it cool.

"It's fine, Wren. I'm not going to tell. I think it was good for you."

"What do you mean?"

"You've had a bad year, Wren. You needed him. Mom and dad wouldn't understand, but I do. So don't worry about it."

"Thank you, Halley", I whispered. She only smiled and walked out. I realized that even though I couldn't be with Cameron, I was lucky to have Halley.

Cameron's POV

I arrived at the airport with a very noticeable pit in my stomach. I was not ready to say goodbye yet.

"Cameron!", Wren said as she ran and hugged me.

"How much time do we have?", I asked.

"3 minutes", was the answer. 'Better not waste any time', I thought to myself. I stepped closer and reached up to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ear. Tears immediately started to spill down her cheeks.

"Hey", I whispered. "Don't cry." I pulled her close and kissed her forehead.

"This isn't the end", I told her. "We'll see each other again. I can feel it."

"I can too", she said as she took a deep breath.

"Now boarding flight 331", called a female voice over the speaker.

"That's my flight", Wren said. She bent down to pick up her carry-on bag and her boarding pass. "Ok, this is it", she said, looking at me. She hugged me and I held on as long as I could. In that moment, I knew what I had to do.

"Wren", I whispered as I pulled back to look at her. "I love you."

She seemed surprised and taken aback but I had no regrets. At this point, it was all or nothing.

"I love you too", she said.

"Last call for flight 331", called the attendant.

"That's my cue", she said as she smiled her winning smile and turned to go. I watched her leave and I longed for her to stay. But she had to go. I watched her get her boarding pass approved. I watched her her turn around. I watched her catch my eye. She smiled. I smiled back. Then she entered the gate and was gone.

I felt something in me that I was afraid to feel before. Relief. Relieved that I would her see her again. It wasn't over. I would make sure of it.

I realized something else that day- moments come and go, but you choose the ones that will make a difference.

I chose right.
