Chapter 2

Those last 2 days went by really fast. Before I knew it, I was loading my bags into the car and getting ready to go to the airport.

As I strapped Mia into her carseat, I heard the weeping of 3 teenage girls. I turned to see Halley sharing an emotional goodbye with her friends.

A sad feeling crept over me. I didn't have any friends. My first year of highschool had been really hard. I had experienced everything from spending lunch alone everyday to being paired with the rest of the losers for class projects. I was lonely, but I wasn't bitter about it.

I pushed the feeling aside and continued loading.

                                         ************************************************

The flight was crazy. Mia wouldn't stop crying because the flight attendant freaked her out. I couldn't tune her out with my music because I had forgotten my ear buds at home. And to top it all off, I was seated by a woman who's snoring could disrupt people in China, it was so loud. So let's just say that when the plane landed in LA, I was happy to get off.

Our apartment was great though. There were too many windows to count, huge bedrooms, and it was right by the beach.

It was Halley's day to watch Mia which meant that I was free to do whatever I felt like. I decided to go for a walk around the streets of LA. Nothing was familiar except one thing... a Starbucks!

I made a beeline for it and sighed as the cool air blasted on my face when I walked in.

I got in line behind a boy around my age, really looking forward to my ice cold drink.

Cameron's POV

It was a typical day for me: chilling in the summer heat. I decided to go to Starbucks because well, who doesn't like Starbucks?

There was 1 person ahead of me in line. The door opened and I noticed that someone had gotten in line behind me. I turned to get a better look and I saw a girl.

She was around my age and she was gorgeous. Her long brown hair spilled over her shoulders in perfect little waves. Her flawless skin glowed in the dim light of the coffee shop. She was just beautiful. A little pang in my chest told me to act.

I stepped up to order my iced caramel macchiato. "I also want to pay for the next girl's drink", I said quietly. "And could you put this phone number on her cup?"

The barista just chuckled as she agreed and took my number. I payed and went to wait, anticipating this beauty's reaction.

Wren's POV

The guy in front of me looked really excited when he ordered.

'Must be Starbucks deprived', I thought to myself.

I stepped up to the counter and ordered my drink. I whipped out my debit card but the barista stopped me.

"Your drink was payed for by that young man over there."

I followed her pointing finger to see the guy that was in line before me smiling at me.

It was Cameron Boyce.
