"Erica, do you copy?" Robin spoke into the walkie. Currently, Erica is in Scoops Ahoy getting ready to climb into the air ducts. While Steve, Dustin, Robin, and I are on the roof of the mall surveilling the loading dock.
"Mm-hmm. I copy. You nerds in position or what?" Erica's voice spoke as it came from the walkie-talkie Robin is holding.
"Yeah, we're in position. It's all quiet here, so you've got the green light."
"Green light, roger that. Commence Operation Child Endangerment." This comment makes me chuckle, but I stop when Steve and robin look at me, both raising an eyebrow at me.
"Can we maybe not call it that?"
"See you on the other side. Nerds." We all sat and listened as Erica got into the air duct and crawled her way through.
"You guys must admit, Erica is funny..." I whispered as I heard her yell out a cuss word when she hit the air duct.
"Not the time Amelia." Robin said in a worried tone, too focus on the walkie to look at me.
A while later after listening to Erica cussing at us anytime she hit something or just complaining about wanting free ice cream. Her voice came through the walkie.
"All right, nerds. I'm there." Everyone sat up, now more alert.
"Do you-- Do you see anything?" Robin stutters out.
"Yeah, I see those boring boxes you're so excited about."
"Any guards?" I said out loud making Robin repeat the question.
"Negative."
"Booby traps?" Robin asked
"If I could see them, they'd be pretty shit traps, wouldn't they?" Erica said sarcastically, which made me break out in a fit of giggles. I quickly slap my hand over my mouth from the look Steve gave me, but I could tell he thought it was funny too.
"Thanks for that." Suddenly we heard Erica yell as she kicked the gate open before we heard her grunt from jumping.
"I'm in." Erica said
"I love this kid!" I whispered in amazement while Seve mumbled "Oh, God." While he rubbed his hands over his face.
The set of doors opened revealing Erica, who was walking out of the room. I watched as she looked up at the four of us on the roof.
"Free ice cream. For. Life." Erica said placing a hand on her hip and shaking her finger. Steve looked between me and Dustin before we all stood up and went down to meet up with Erica.
