July 1985
I stood there still staring at the gate. I watched as the Russian scientists continued to work so the machine would continue to open the gate. I glance down at Dustin who looked at me in shock. Then I looked over at Steve who was already staring at me, I could tell he was trying to keep up a brave face. Steve pulled me away from the window and to the staircase to head back down to the Comms room. I followed everyone but after I closed the door, I stood there for a second before I turned back around and just stared at the gate. For some reason, this gate felt different. I don't know if it's because the Russians are opening it or if it's just the fact that the gate is reopening. This feeling makes me want to vomit and makes me sick to my stomach.
"Lia! Where is Lia!" I hear Steve yelling. Running back down the stairs I saw Steve panicking while running over to where I am on the steps.
"We all need to leave right now." I said sternly as I walk closer to Steve. Steve grabbed my arm so I would look at him.
"Where did you go? What happened?" I could tell Steve was not only panicking because of the Russians but because I wasn't in his eyesight.
"I just stayed up there. I'm fine. But we need to leave now."
"Um, Steve? Where's your Russian friend?" Erica's voice broke me and Seve out of our little world.
Looking over at Erica I see that the Russian soldier Steve knocked out earlier, had vanished, then alarm sounds started going off. I run over to the exit, pulling the door open to find a group of soldiers walking over to the Comms room.
"Shit." I whispered as I slam the door closed once a soldier makes eye contact with me.
"Come one! Go, go, go!" I yelled as I ushered everyone up the stairs.
We burst through the door but stop for a second because the Scientists from before all stop what they are doing to turn and face us. We snapped out of our daze and continued to run down the stairs and into another area. We all run across a catwalk, which lead us to the machine that was opening the gate. I watched as we ran as Dustin yelled at a man in a suit and shoved him out of the way.
"Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!" Dustin screeched as we reached the end of the catwalk.
"Guards!" Erica yelled, turning around I see the soldiers getting closer to us.
Steve then yelled out a 'follow me', as he ran down a set of stairs while knocking a man in a suit out of the way. More soldiers burst through a door, making Steve knock over a stack of barrels, temporarily blocking the soldiers' path.
"This way!" I yelled as I lead the group into a random room.
The rest of the group rushes in, Steve slams the door closed and uses his body to hold the soldiers back. Running over to Steve, I help him hold the door shut. I watch as Dustin and Erica search for a way out.
