SUMMARY:
"How many times have I told you to stay away from the Greasers, Rosaleigh?" my brother demanded, grasping my arm as he practically dragged me along with him.
At that moment, all the anger and resentment I'd been feeling towards Bob began brewing in the pit of my stomach and throughout the rest of my body, until it finally boiled over the surface. I was sick and tired of him telling me what to do all the time. I was sick and tired of him always getting what he wanted when it came to my parents.
That was going to change...
....
Friendly, sweet, and a little too trusting, fourteen-year-old Rosaleigh Sheldon has lived in the shadow of her popular older brother, Bob, for as long as she can remember. She can't understand what's so special about him. All he's ever done is threaten and intimidate her. But nevertheless, everybody adored Bob: her parents, the teachers at school, and even most of the student body.
Just when Rose is becoming sick of always getting pushed to the sidelines, she is paired with Ponyboy Curtis for a project in Honors English. The two learn they have similar interests, and it's not long before a friendship is formed. However, as a Soc, Rose isn't sure why she's supposed to hate the Greasers, especially one as unique as Ponyboy.
After an altercation at the park causes someone to take things too far, Rose is left wondering who she should trust: the Greasers or the Socs. Who has been there to help her when she's needed it most?
Friendships will be tested, secrets will be spilled, and hearts will be broken... because after all, you can't control who you love.
