Chapter 14

First Kiss

To my surprise, Ms Venable joined me the following evening. We both read for a hour in a complete but comfortable silence.
After an hour, I needed to ask my question. It was haunting me since the night before. Does she really not think she is pretty ?

" Ms Venable, you don't think you're beautiful?"

She raises her head and her chocolate brown eyes met mine. I could lose myself in her eyes. " Excuse me ?" she says furrowing her eyebrows

" Last night, I told you that you were beautiful but you didn't seem to believe it and you left so fast."

" That's none of your business " she says standing up, ready to leave

I stand up too because I don't want her to leave.

" I swear I was honest yesterday, it has nothing to do with punishment or i don't know what else. I meant what I say "

" Ok. I already thanked you " she says starting to walk away

I take a step forward and put myself in front of her so she can't leave.

" But you didn't believe me Ms Venable, did you ? "

" It doesn't matter, now I will go " she says sternly trying to leave but once again I stood in front of her. Closer than two minutes ago. I could feel her breath on my face.

" Yes it matters. I always say what I think you should know that now "

She laughed a little. And oh my this laugh would be the end of me. For a split second, I look at her lips and quickly look back in her eyes. She is looking dead into my eyes and she saw my glance on her lips. She's gonna kill me I thought. But no.
She just stares at me as I do the same. And the second that follows, our lips meet. I don't know who initiate the kiss but I'm not gonna complain. Her lips are soft against mine as they are moving slowly. The kiss doesn't last long but it was enough to take my breath away.
We look at each other, both shocked.

Neither of us says anything as she quickly walked away leaving me here, incapable of processing what had just happened.
