Chapter 24

Not ready

Two days without being able to see each other. Indeed, Ms Venable was really busy with some stuffs from the cooperative.

Finally the third night, she came to the library and found an excuse to make sure I wasn't late for curfew to walk me to my room.

We couldn't wait and enter my bedroom so quickly that we almost fell.

We were making out and I let my hands explore her body. As they reach her back, I feel her tense and she says " Don't touch "
I don't question it and put my hands somewhere else not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable. We were still kissing when we approach the bed. She puts her cane against it and we both lay on the bed not breaking the kiss. After a few minutes of heated make out, I look at her and push a lock of hair from her face and ask " Can I undress you tonight "
She immediately froze and says harshly " No "

" Oh okay.... May I ask you why ? I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable of course but you are so amazing I don't understand "

" I think it's better if I go now. "

" No no please I didn't want to make you feel bad. I'm sorry if I did but please stay at least so we can talk, about anything "

" I'm tired "

" Or we can just lay in silence if you prefer but I don't want to let you leave like that "

" Ok" and she lays back on my bed so I do the same.
I ask " Do you want to talk ?"

" No "

" Is it okay if I come closer ? "

She doesn't answer just extend her arm for me to cuddle with her. So I did. I put my head on her chest listening once again to her heartbeat. A few moments after, she starts to gently rub my back. The feeling gives me chills. It feels so right laying with her.
My feelings are only growing. In the past few days, they'd expanded exponentially.
After a while I eventually fall asleep.

I wake up as I feel the bed moving. I see Ms Venable trying to get away as slowly as possible from my grip. So I pull her closer to me.
She says calmly " We fell asleep. I have to go."

" Oh you want to go ?" I say teasing her knowing she will not answer.

But she did answer

" I don't particularly want to go but I have to get up in two and a half hours and I don't want Ms Mead or anyone else to know that I slept here. It would not end well"

So she didn't want to go. What a surprise
I release her, and she sits up sighing a little bit.

" Everything alright ? "

" Yes yes don't worry "

Of course I worry, second times she seems to be in pain. But I let it go.
I sit up beside her. She takes her cane, looks at me but doesn't move.
After a kiss, I stand up and hold out my hand to help her up. She takes it and stand up. She kiss me one last time, and pushes me very gently on the bed as she says " Go sleep, I'll see you at breakfast "

Am I still sleeping ? Because she is really soft
I watch her leave, and just before closing the door she throw me one last glance.

I fell asleep right away.

I woke up feeling my bed sink under the weight of something. Or someone. As my eyes flutter open, I see Ms Venable sitting on my bed.

" You missed breakfast "

Shit. Shit. Shit.

" But as I woke you up in the middle of the night, let's say that it's okay for this time."

Still sitting by my side, she takes a silver tray from my bedside table and places it on my lap.
Oh my god she brought me breakfast. In bed. Like in love movies. Except we are in the middle of an apocalypse.

" Thank you Ms Venable. I really appreciate it. "

My heart feels warm at this instant. She stays here, looking at me so I ask " will you stay with me ?"

" I can go- I mean I have to go, I'll send a gray to-"

I interrupt her " No you can stay, if you want of course "

And she did stay. The sight of the cube doesn't even disgust me. The only thing I'm aware of, is her presence.

" Did you succeed to fall asleep after getting to your bedroom ? "

" It took time but yes. I don't return the question since your sleep is the reason I am here."

I laugh a little bit.

" I have to say I enjoyed falling asleep with you " I let out shyly.

" I must say it was not unpleasant "

" Oh please you can say that you likes it ! I swear it'll be our secret "

She laughs and once again the butterflies erupt. " Indeed, I-well yes I liked it "

It makes me smile instantly.
I push the tray off my lap and gently grab her chin, pulling her closer and she kissed me immediately.
After a moment she says " I have to go I have work to do."

" Of course, see you at lunch but you know where to find me " I say winking

" Mmh.." She stands up and I stand up too. " What are you doing "

" Kissing you one last time " And with that I press my lips against hers and she returns it.

" Have a good day Ms Venable "

" You too Y/N" and she leaves
