Chapter 5: The Party

Laura

Rafael was getting ready for Laura's birthday. Laura was going to be seven years old. Rafael felt bad for not telling Laura that she was adopted. Rafael did not know how to tell Laura. King Victor did not want anything to do with Laura. Rafael's son Philip was six years old. Philip had red hair like his father. Philip and Laura are very close. Rafael was going to send Philip to the boarding school that Laura was going to. Philip did not have any friends. Monica was already pregnant. Monica wanted a son, but Rafael did not care if it was a girl or a boy.

Rafael was watching the news when he heard that King Victor, Queen Jane, and their children were killed. Rafael felt bad and hurt that King Victor and his family were killed. Rafael wrote a letter to Laura telling her that she was adopted. Monica walked into their room. "Rafael are you ok?" Monica asks. "Yes, I am fine, the news depressed me," Rafael replied. "Don't watch the news," Monica replied. "I am going to shop for Laura's birthday gifts," Rafael replied. "I am going to run errands," Monica replied. Monica was going to see Loki. They were going to meet in a hotel because Emily had already told Loki that she did not want him to bring other women to their bed.

Laura could not wait until her birthday party. Laura's father was throwing her a big party. Laura calls her father. "Dad, I was wondering if Becky could come to my birthday party?" Laura asks. "Yes, she can. You can invite anyone you like. Is it ok with Becky's parents that she comes to India?" Rafael asks. "Becky does not have any parents. Becky is an orphan and she works as a maid at the boarding school," Laura replied. "We can take Becky shopping for a new dress for the party," Rafael replied. "Thank you, dad," Laura replied.

The next day, Rafael picked up Laura and Becky. Rafael got Becky a dress. Becky was really happy about her new dress. They went out to eat. Becky enjoys the food. Rafael got Becky a lot of new clothes to wear. Laura and Becky went back to school. Laura's dad told them that they would leave for India tomorrow. Becky was able to sleep in Laura's room. Laura told Becky stories about India. Samantha was going to visit her mother, Monica.

The next day Laura and her friends were in India. Becky could not believe how big Laura's house was. Monica came out to hug Laura and Samantha. "This is Becky," Laura introduces Becky to Monica. "Does Becky have a last name?" Monica asks. "No, my parents abandoned me when I was a baby. I was not given a last name," Becky replied. "Dinner is almost ready," Monica replied. Laura, Becky, and Samantha got fresh up for dinner. Laura was surprised to see Loki and Emily. "Dad, what are they doing here?!" Laura replied angrily. "Be nice Laura," Rafael pleaded.

The next day was Laura's birthday party. A lot of people came to Laura's party. Laura couldn't believe her dad would invite Loki. Laura did not know that her dad was friends with Loki. Laura just hoped that Loki didn't try to hurt her father. Laura got a lot of gifts from her dad and her friends. Laura wishes Mary was at her party, but Mary sent her a gift. Laura had a big chocolate cake with white icy on it. Becky got Laura a gift. It was a beautiful locket. "Becky, you did not have to get me anything. Thank you," Laura replied. Samantha got Laura Alice Through the Looking Glass. Thank you, Samantha.

The Ghost

Mary still hasn't found the secret garden. She looks everywhere. Mary was disappointed that she could not go outside due to the storms. Mary was reading her book when she heard someone calling her. "Who is it," Mary called. Mary went to look around. Mary saw her aunt walking in the hallway. "What is the matter?" Queen Rachel asks. "I thought I heard someone calling my name," Mary replied. "You probably were hearing the wind. Sometimes the wind can sound like voices," Queen Rachel suggests. Mary went to bed and she tried to ignore the voices.

The next day it was still raining. Mary heard the voice again. Mary knew it was not the wind. Mary wondered if it was a ghost. Mary follows the voice again. Mary went close to Amber's old room, but she did not go into the room. Mary saw a girl that looked like her, but before Mary could say anything the girl was gone. Mary wonders if that ghost was Amber. Mary was not going to say anything because she knew no one would believe her.
