Chapter 2: The First Day of School

Laura

Laura was nervous because she was starting her first day of boarding school. The boarding school was in England. Laura was six years old. Laura loves to read and write. Laura and her father were already in England. Laura has never been to England. Laura's father was born and grew up in England. Laura's parents went to the boarding school she was going to. Laura and her father went shopping and she got a lot of clothes. Laura was allowed to have a pet at school. Laura got a dog that she named Zoey. Laura loves her dog.

Laura is at boarding school with her father. The boarding school was big. Miss Miller was the headmistress. Laura could see that Miss Miller was a mean person. "Hello Mr. Crawford, I am Molly Miller. This must be Laura. I am glad to meet you Laura. I hope you have a great time here. I have your room ready. Would you like to meet your roommate?" Miss Miller asks. "Yes, please," Laura replied. The maid took Laura to her room. "Laura, this is April Greenfield your roommate," the maid replied. "It is very nice to meet you April," Laura replied. "Is nice to meet you too," April replied.

Laura and her father said their goodbyes. Laura was really sad because she was going to miss her father. Laura got ready for bed when someone knock on the door. "Who is it?" Laura asks. "It is Polly I am the maid," Polly told Laura. "Come in," Laura invited Polly in. "Breakfast is at 7:00 AM and your classes start at 8:00 AM. Your father told us that you love to read. We have a big library with a lot of books. Here is your uniform," Polly replied. "Thank you, Polly. Laura set her clock for 5:00 AM and she went to bed.

The next day was class. Lavina already hates the new student. Lavina was jealous. "I cannot believe people are making a big deal about this new girl. Everyone treated her like she was a princess!" Lavina replied angrily. "I think Laura is a nice person. The only reason you don't like her is because you don't like competition. Laura is a lot better person than you are!" April replied angrily. Laura walks into the classroom with Miss Miller. "Students, I would like you to meet Laura Crawford. I want you all to do your best to make her feel at home," Miss Miller requested.

The Accident

Mary

Mary was a spoiled little girl. Mary's parents did not spend a lot of time with her. The maids took care of her. Mary was upset because her best friend Laura went to boarding school in England. Laura was Mary's friend. No one liked Mary because she would scream and yell. The maids did not even like her. Mary did like reading. Laura would tell Mary stories, and she loved listening to Laura. Laura did agree to write to Mary. Mary was five years old.

One day Mary heard her mother fighting with someone on the phone. "Dad, I am busy. I feel bad that Rachel lost her daughter, but I cannot make it to the funeral!" Julie replied angrily. Julie hung up on her dad. Nicholas came walking in. "Who was that?" Nicholas asks. "That was my dad. My niece was killed in an accident," Julie replied. "We have to go to the funeral!" Nicholas ordered. "I do not want to go!" Julie replied angrily. "I cannot believe that you can be so heartless. That is your sister and you need to be there for her. Mary needs to meet her grandpa, aunts, and uncles," Nicholas orders.

Julie was not happy about going to her niece's funeral. Julie was yelling at the maids. The maids got Mary ready. Mary's aunt lived in France. Mary never knew why her mother never visited her sister. Mary always wants a brother or sister. Mary's mother could not have any more children. Mary did not care for her mother. Mary's mother was always rude and mean to her. Mary did love her father. It was storming really badly. Mary and her parents rush to the airport. Nicholas lost control of his car and they ran off the road.

Mary woke up in the hospital. Mary became scared. Mary starts screaming. The nurse ran into Mary's room. "Miss Mary, calm down!" The nurse pleaded. "Where are mom and dad?! Mary screamed. "Miss Mary, you and your parents were in a car accident. I am sorry, but your parents did not make it," the nurse replied sadly. "I am going back to bed," Mary replied. The nurse could not believe that Mary did not cry or get upset about her parents' death.
