Alan was smiling as the nurse had us finish the release forms. I couldn't stop smiling as Alan kept watching me, he would smile bigger every time I signed something or I bit my lip in concentration he would giggle loudly. Finally, all the papers were done and I handed them to the lady who let us leave. He wrapped his arm firmly around mine, of course not the hurt one. We walked out into the sunny weather together where he smiled even wider which I couldn't understand how it's possible. "You seem happy." I commented chuckling at him.
"I mean what's not their to be happy about. I have an amazing boyfriend." He says squeezing my arm, "I'm in love, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping-" then he went quiet as his gaze shifted onto someone, I quickly followed the gaze and saw the man who slapped Alan with two other men. "A-austin, let's go." He looked nervous and started shaking.
"Alan-" he cut me off quickly as they started making their way towards us, "Run." He bursted into a full sprint down the sidewalk where I followed him. Just like on the soccer field I kept up because of my long legs, they were shouting behind us loudly and I swore I could hear my heart coming out of my chest as I ran my hand against the scar which of course was sewn and healed over.
Alan made twists and turns down Alleyways until of course we made it to a dead end. "Oh no! What are we gonna do Austin." I looked around quickly and saw the fire escape and the dumpster.
"Climb on the dumpster, I'll lift you up." He nodded and hastily climbed on the dumpster as I followed behind. Picking him up by his waist and pushing his feet up as he climbed onto the fire escape with a sigh of thankfulness. I jumped as high as I could and gripped the metal, swinging my legs in attempt to pull myself which can I say is very difficult. Alan, pulled my right hand helping me a bit where I finally got up.
"Where the fuck did they go Tino!" The man yelled.
"Hey, I'm only best friends with the ginger remember that. Austin, I could do without him." He laughed, Alan looked at me with wide sad eyes.
"Pauley, can work his magic on Alan since he has a giant crush." The man and Tino laughed, I heard a shuffle of feet as Pauley came over.
"That's not funny guys." He sighed.
"Aw, Mr.Black; Aaron's embarrassed." Tino laughed harder at his friend pain.
Soon it all quieted down as footsteps were heard walking away, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding then looked at Alan who let tears stray down his face.
"Hey, hey. What's wrong?" I wiped the tears with my thumb.
"My own friends want to hurt me with that monster." He cries.
"Baby, shh. No. Don't cry." He wrapped his arms around me and cries more. I let him, his life has been hard and it feels like I am the only one here for him.
I'm sorry for that because I'm not the best person to be around. I break my promises and hurt people, but I really don't want to hurt him.
"Austin." He sniffles.
"Yeah, baby?"
"Forever?" He sobs.
"Forever." I repeat.
