Parker. He and Chester had been best friends since elementary school. They had been through hell and back and were always there for one another. Of course, being Chester, he had developed a crush on his best friend. Chester wouldn't tell Parker though, he didn't want to risk ruining their friendship. So he tried to ignore his feelings hoping they'd go away... but they didn't. They only got more intense over the years.
"Chester!" Parker's voice pulled Chester out of his thoughts and back to reality.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" Chester questioned, sitting up in his seat away from the window to face him.
"I wanted to know what you thought of the situation," Parker chuckled in response, he didn't understand why Chester had been spacing out so much lately, it kind of concerned him.
"I think we shouldn't be going to this place, she should deal with her family issues with a therapist not us," Chester stated, rolling his eyes.
They had been in the car for about an hour on the way to the house of a girl named Abby, who emailed them asking for their help. She said that her brother had come home from a road trip with his friends and was acting weird, then a few days later, their parents went missing and her brother, John, insisted they were fine and just went on a road trip too. But the girl stated that her parents would never leave without telling them where they were going.
"We still have to help, also, this is the only email we've gotten all week so we need some content to post," Parker explained, he would edit the last bit out later because he didn't want his viewers to worry about that kind of stuff.
Chester shrugged and sat back in his seat.
"Chester, have you not been wearing your seatbelt?" Parker asked as he glanced over at him. Chester quickly sat up and buckled his seatbelt, muttering a quiet "sorry" before turning off the camera on the dashboard.
Once the camera was off, Parker glanced at Chester again.
"Chester, are you okay? You've been spacing out a lot lately," Parker said. He was a lot nicer to Chester off camera.
"Yeah, just, lost in thought lately i guess," Chester said distantly, looking out the window again.
Parker sighed and pulled over. He wanted to make sure Chester was okay. He was his best friend, and though he wouldn't admit it on camera or even out loud, Chester meant the world to him.
Chester looked over at Parker, confused on why he had put the car in park.
"Chester. I can tell something is wrong. Please, if something is bothering you i want to know," Parker stated, turning his full attention to Chester. Chester seemed to get uneasy and shifted in his seat.
"It really is nothing, I'm okay I swear," Chester said, trying to smile and hide his unease.
Parker sighed and sat back, facing forward again.
"Okay, but promise you'll let me know if anything is wrong? i wanna help you dude," Parker looked back over at Chester.
"Okay, promise," Chester agreed, turning away from Parker before he could see his cheeks light up. He loved how much Parker cared for him.
Parker patted Chester's shoulder before sitting up and putting the car in drive.
The rest of the ride was mostly silent. The occasional cough or yawn breaking it momentarily.
About another hour into the ride, Chester had propped himself up against the car door and passed out relatively quickly.
"Chester, i am worried, i know I don't say it much but you mean a lot to me as my best friend, I just want to make sure you're okay," Parker confessed to a sleeping Chester, not knowing he was sleeping.
"Chester?" He asked, expecting a response. He waited another moment before looking over at Chester, who was sleeping peacefully.
'Now i feel uber dumb' Parker thought, facepalming and focusing back on the road. Maybe it was for the best. Feelings would only make things awkward.
Another hour and they had arrived. Parker pulled into the driveway of a small, two story house. It was a nice looking, pastel yellow house with a small porch and porch swing on the right side of the front door (when looking at it from the street)
"Chester, wake up, we're here," Parker half whispered, softly shaking Chester's shoulder.
"Huh?" Chester groaned, stirring awake and looking over at Parker before wiping some drool off his cheek.
"We're here," Parker repeated, turning off the car's engine and unbuckling his seatbelt.
Chester unbuckled too and opened his door, but he didn't get out yet as his legs were still asleep.
Parker got out and walked over to Chester's side,
"Are you okay?" He questioned, resting his arm on the open car door.
Chester looked down at his legs to hide his blush
"Yeah, my legs are just still asleep from the way i sat as I napped," Chester said, standing up as his legs began to regain feeling.
Chester looked up to see he was face to face with Parker, and a lot closer than he expected to be.
"Oh! Sorry, I didn't- umm- I didn't mean to- Sorry!" Chester rambled, shuffling to the side away from Parker, towards the back of the car.
Parker laughed at Chester embarrassed and flustered face, completely unaware of how Chester felt and why he was so flustered.
The two went up to the door and Chester stood behind Parker as he knocked on the door.
A short, chubby, brunette answered the door, opening it and smiling with what looked to be relief.
"You guys must be Parker and Chester, Im Abby! Thank you so much, i have been so scared lately with how John has been acting," she said quickly her voice a mix of fear and relief.
"Could we come in and talk more about how exactly he has been acting?" Parker asked.
Abby let them in and they sat down at the dining room table with her.
Abby explained how her brother had been shutting himself in his room and whenever they interacted, he didn't seem like himself and was much more unsettling with how he worded and did things.
Parker and Chester assured her they would help and Abby asked if they would stay, just for extra safety.
The two agreed and Abby showed them to the guest bedroom.
