As soon as Taehyung wakes up his sleepy eyes wander through the dark room. When he recognizes Jungkooks bedroom, his gaze automatically goes to the right side of the bed. Right there, next to him, Jungkook should be lying...but he isn't.

With a racing heartbeat, Taehyung throws the covers aside and jumps off the bed, so fast that he threatens to lose his balance for a brief moment. His legs are wobbly and colorful glittering dots take away his vision for a brief moment. He reaches the half-open bedroom door with difficulty through which he enters the hallway.

He hears and sees nothing, further spreading the panic. For this reason, he nervously searches for a light switch, feeling the cold wall with both hands until something clicks under his fingers and the hallway is flooded with warm light.

His hope, that Jungkook might have just gone to the bathroom, dissolves at the sight of the open bathroom door. Shortly after, he discovers the pile of clothes on the floor. It's proof that everything that happened between him and Jungkook last night was not just a dream. But he doesn't have much time to wallow in the sweet memories. The crumpled pants, with the tangled brown leather belt, cause him far too much worry for that...as they lie dangerously close to the stairs.

"Fuck...", Taehyung curses softly while running towards the stairs. There, the sight chokes his throat on the spot. "J-Jungkook..."

Jungkook wanted the night to be different but it took an unexpected turn. Instead of waking up in the warm bed next to Taehyung, listening to his calm breathing while inhaling his scent, he now finds himself in a hospital room that smells strongly of disinfectant.

The bed sheet feels cold and the bed cover can't even be called "soft", let alone "comfortable". Fortunately, Taehyung is still with him, holding his hand tightly.

His fingertips gently glide over the back of Jungkook's hand and he's grateful to Taehyung for not leaving his side.

Events from last night roll over in Jungkook's head. It all happened so fast. Like almost every night, he just wanted to go to the bathroom but tripped over those darn pants in the much too small hallway. He doesn't remember much, not even the pain, when he finally reached the floor after several steps. The adrenaline in his body displaced the terrible pulling in his foot, which only later turned into a throbbing, burning pain.

Taehyung was there on the spot, begging him to be reasonable and not move. For his sake, Jungkook did just that, stirring as little as possible. That worry in Taehyung's eyes and that sparkle, that his rising tears were responsible for, will haunt Jungkook for a very long time. Taehyung's look hurt Jungkook more than his actual injury to his foot.

Now both of them are impatiently waiting for the doctor while trying to hold back their caresses. After all, they don't know when someone might enter the room. But one thing is for sure; Jungkook has to stay in the hospital for this night. According to the nurse this is purely a precautionary measure to be able to observe him further. A slight concussion has already been detected but the result of the X-ray is still pending.

Right now, the pain in his elevated foot is being numbed by an ice-cold cool pack. His only concern is that something might be broken.

A short time later, the doctor enters the room. The young woman lets both men in on the X-ray results. Jungkook's foot twisted, overstretching his ligaments - no torn ligaments and no broken bones. So, it could have been far worse.

"I'm relieved," Jungkook says, feeling his muscles relax.

"You're lucky, Mr. Jeon. The nurse will be in shortly to make you a bandage. If there's no further discomfort overnight, then you'll be allowed to go home in the morning."
