In the last few weeks Jungkook has learned many things, but especially things about himself. Taehyung helped him to accept the scars of the past and not to repress them any further. They're a part of him and a reminder of how he never wants to be again.
He's convinced he has become a better person because of Taehyung. All the feelings he had locked so tightly in his heart for all those years have been released by Yunas kindergarten-teacher. He has learned to love again and to allow being loved back. Yes, love can be painful, but if you fight for it, if you believe in it, and if you protect it, it has the power to make all pain disappear.
In Taehyung he sees his future - the family life Jungkook had always dreamed of. He loves him, without any doubt, and he wants to become a real family with him and Yuna.
But before that he needs to talk to his own family. Taehyung has become an integral part of his life and his parents have the right to know the truth about it. He has said himself that he will always be honest from now on. Yesterday Taehyung has encouraged him to finally take this step after weeks of secrecy.
For this reason, he has decided to visit his parents today. At this moment, he's sitting across from them at the dining room table, the same table where Taehyungs already sat at.
"Jungkook, you know you can talk to your mother and me about anything."
With a lowered gaze and a nod, Jungkook confirms that he's aware of this. He chose the morning for this meeting because he knows Yuna will still be in kindergarten for several hours. In the end, Jungkook can't predict the end of this conversation.
He has gone through a variety of scenarios, unable to finish the most painful ones in his mind. He doesn't want to believe that his parents won't accept him for who he really is...or even worse...disown him.
But when he thinks of his mother and father, he sees nothing but unconditional love. They have always been there for him and supported him through any stages of life.
He never had to listen to any reproaches, instead he always got back nothing but understandings. He loves his parents from the bottom of his heart, and yet this step hurts like hell.
Jungkook lifts his tear-filled gaze, which falls on the shimmering eyes of his mother. She already suspects what is upon to come and it tears his heart to see her this sad. Has he really disappointed her that much by falling in love with a man? This painful thought takes his breath away.
Not a second longer would he have endured this crushing silence, so he gathers all his courage and speaks out what he managed to hide from his parents for weeks.
"I fell in love with Taehyung."
His voice trembles along with his lips. He first observes his mother's reaction, who's gasping for air as if she almost drowned. Although she struggles to fight the tears, they flow unstoppably.
Seeing his own mother cry makes him feel even more terrible. His eyes wander desperately to his father, who says nothing at first. Then he sinks into his chair and lets his head fall back into his neck. He also inhales audibly...and then he smiles. When he raises his head again, Jungkook sees no wrinkles of anger, only soft features.
"You scared me, my child."
His son doesn't understand him, nor does his wife know what he's about to say. Both wait anxiously for him to explain himself.
"I was starting to worry that something bad had happened to you or Yuna...that you might be sick...heavens, I imagined so many terrible things. But you're just in love."
Jungkook can no longer hold back the tears which flow down his cheek, accompanied by a relieved feeling.
"Dad...", he wants to say so much more, but he can't.
