When we got back home, things weren't the same. Now we knew for a fact that we couldn't bring everyone back. We had to own up to it now. We had lost. And there was no going back. There was no hope anymore.
"So they're just gone?" Darcy says, taking the news in. I nodded, trying not to break down as Freya sleeps in my arms. "I wish things had gone differently." But it was true. They were gone.
"You know you can stay at the compound as long as you want." I told her, "It's really no problem."
Darcy shakes her head, staring down at her hands. "No, it's fine. I should really get going." I pouted and was about to say something till an alarm blared throughout the compound. Waking up Freya in my arms who begins to cry from being interrupted from her nap.
"What the hell is that?" Darcy asked over the sounds of the alarm as we stood and made our way through the halls of the compound. The alarms made it difficult. I started to get flashbacks of the ship of Thanos coming to attack us. I panicked, my breathing hitched.
I took a deep breath. Or tried to. He's dead. Proxima Midnight, Ebonw Maw, and Thanos are dead. They aren't attacking you. You aren't in space, you are on earth with your friends and family. What's left anyway.
The two of us find the others at the controls, monitoring the sky. "What's happening?"
"Something is entering the atmosphere." Natasha answered as she, Bruce and Rhoedy tried to figure out what it was. "It's some sort of ship." Bruce pulled up some footage from a satellite to let us see the small ship. Or should I say ships. They weren't that large but I recognized them instantly. So did Thor and Kilorn as we exchanged glances.
"Someone just launched a missile." Rhodes said as he checked the radar to see a small beeping dot heading for the ship. Oh no. "Who sent it?!"
"The National Guard."
Of bloody course. "Here," I said as I handed Freya over to Steve. "Where are you going?"
"Those ships have our people in them," Kilorn told him and the others. Referring to himself, my brother and I. "And we have to reach them before they-" I stopped myself from saying the word. The others all understood what this meant.
"Where are they?" Kilorn asked Bruce and Rhodey, who quickly pulled up the map. "Are they over Norway?"
"Yes actually," Bruce said mildly surprised. Oh thank god they're coordinates were still the same. "We need to make no haste!" Thor shouts as he hurries away. I take another deep breath, reminding myself again that Thanos is gone before Kilorn and I join him.
