"You guys were on the run for 2 years." Tony grumbled as he helped bring boxes into the new house. "Why do you have so much stuff?"
Thanks to Rhoedy and Tony, those of us wanted "war criminals" that had survived the snap were given pardons. We all were actually, it didn't feel right for the others to be remembered that way instead of hero's.
But now that we were pardoned, we didn't have to run anymore. Which meant Steve and I were moving. While living in the compound again sounds good, we have a child. And the compound is pretty secluded from playgrounds or daycare.
Rhoedy and Pepper used their connections to get us a good place. Military neighborhood in the city. A fresh start I suppose.
I smiled a little. "After we had Freya, Veronica let us stay in her penthouse in France." She really didn't have to. But she did. We -they- made it their home for nearly a year. Most of the stuff we're moving in comes from the stuff we left behind in the compound. Other than that, we've got loads of Freya's stuff from the penthouse.
Tony's smile faltered at the mention of Veronica. He was there when she blipped. Not good memories.
"Okay!" Darcy exclaimed, unintentionally breaking the tension in the room as she waltzed in with a tray of freshly baked cookies in hand and a pitcher of OJ. Turns out Darcy stress bakes.
"Who wants some treats?" She cheerfully asked and was immediately met with Tony swiping the tray away for himself. "Stark!" Darcy yells and Tony laughs victoriously, dodging her attempts to take them back.
"That's the last of the boxes." Steve announced as he and Thor entered. Thor holds Freya while Steve drops the last of the boxes on the floor.
"And then we can do some retail shopping." I said with a smile, we were going to need furniture. And I love a good excuse for shopping. Who doesn't like some retail therapy?
"Alright then you go shopping and I'll stay here with my niece." Thor states, tickling Freya in the stomach which causes her to giggle perfusably.
I couldn't help but smile and get sad when I remember what I have to tell him. I was going to do it regardless of what he said. If he accepted or didn't. I made up my mind on that. He can stay mad at me as long as he wants. I already have someone helping me. One of my aunts. But I can't do it without him knowing first.
"There's food in the fridge." I told my brother as I took my purse. "We'll be back in a bit."
When Steve and I got to the mall, we multitasked. I should be getting used to not using my abilities, which is why he was doing most of the heavy lifting while I checked things off the list and talked about the other thing.
