When Rocket arrived on his ship with Nebula, we immediately took flight to New Asgard. I filled him in on what we were hoping to accomplish, and spent a few hours catching up with him, Kilorn and Bruce. And the final drive into New Asgard wasn't fun.
Bruce sits in the back of the trunk as I drive into New Asgard. Rocket squished between Kilorn and I. Bruce took up most of the space in the back. "Move it will you!" Rocket shouts as he digs his elbows into my sides.
"Rocket seriously, I'm going to put you on the roof." Kilorn warned him as he picked him up and dropped him on the truck's dashboard. "You put me on the roof I'm going to stick that shiny sword of yours up your-"
"Okay both of you calm down!" I scolded them. Not even a few hours together and they start bickering already. I looked at Rocket and pointed a finger at him. "You need to watch your attitude." I told him and Rocket scoffed at the order. I looked at Kilorn. "And you need to not break my kids' favorite guardian."
Kilorn crossed his arms and rolled his eyes, pointing at Rocket. "How is he their favorite guardian?"
Rocket laughed victoriously and mischievously in Kilorns face. "I'm the build-a-bear bitch!"
"Rocket!!"
Finally, we arrived and only then did the bickering stop. We all hoped down and Bruce and Rocket looked around at the remaining Asgardians, living like normal humans at a port. Because they live so close to the ocean, most of them go fishing to provide for themselves. It's something they know how to do. They like making themselves useful.
"Kind of a step down from a golden palace and magic hammers and whatnot." Rocket muttered looking around.
"Don't be rude rocket." I scolded him. "First we lost Asgard and then half our people. We're just trying to survive." Sure, this is a step down from everything they are used to but we manage. This is like any other neighborhood in New York.
The house structures are good, we've got stores, doctors, restaurants, a school. Even more. Valkyrie has tried to persuade me into making New Asgard a tourist destination. I'm not convinced. They're already new to Earth, the last thing I want is for them to become some attraction.
"You shouldn't have come." We turned around when we heard Valkyrie lugging a bag of fishing nets.
"Ah, Valkyrie!" Bruce exclaimed when he saw her. "Great to see you, Angry Girl."
"I think I liked you better either of the other ways." Val said, commenting on his change of appearance. She nodded at Kilorn. "Good to see you again, Hugheson."
