Today was his first day as our 'transfer' student. A nifty little fib to prevent any mishaps. The great news was that if he was properly introduced, then I wouldn't have to keep sneaking around Haru and Jun who were very keenly aware that something was up with me.
Haru collapsed next to me in the chair.
"Ugh dude...I am so tired. The girl I was with yesterday was so awesome, but like I've never seen someone with so much energy to want to keep going for the whole night," she groaned.
"And that's too much information," I sighed, a mental image plaguing my mind.
Haru was late as always but so was Professor Nam and Taehyung. I did text him the schedule and gave him all the details so that he could walk into the class. I mean, I could understand the nerves, he was pretending to be a model in a school after finding out he was literally born like three days ago. And born into a full-grown human at that. Via paint.
"Students! I have wonderfully exciting news!" Professor Nam's cheerful voice chirped, drawing everyone's bored attention.
He walked in with a familiar boy, lethargically in tow. Taehyung hesitantly followed Professor Nam to the front of the room, avoiding eye contact with anyone. His eyes didn't even try to search for mine.
Whispers of excitement, allure, and intrigue flourished across the room. Some people were swooning, others were making a face, but everyone's attention which was usually at zero in this class, had been maxed out on the new kid.
"Sohee...you're staring at this guy like you're about to jump him," Haru whispered.
I gasped, "Huh? What? I don't—"
"I mean he must be a model because he looks hyper-realistic. Like a doll. Or a painting," she remarked.
I chuckled awkwardly, "What? Pfft. I don't think he's that attractive."
Liar.
"Do you all remember that portrait I had you do a group analysis on, as requested by an anonymous painter?" Professor Nam asked.
"Yes, sir!" Everyone chanted robotically.
"Wow, such enthusiasm today. My students would never be interested in me," he sighed. "Anyway, this here is Kim Taehyung, the model the piece was created after. He was found by a stroke of luck and after demonstrating his brilliant artistic talent has joined us here at this fine university. Please welcome him warmly and be kind to him."
The other students clapped as if Taehyung was some sort of idol or something.
"Let's see, where shall we sit you?" Professor Nam hummed.
In an instant, dozens of hands shot up, desperately patting empty seats nearby.
"Hey watch it!" Someone squealed as the person next to them literally threw them off of their chair.
"Yikes...did not think the whole class would be down bad for him," Haru remarked. "You're suspiciously quiet though. You love meeting new people. Especially ones you think that are attractive. To...you know..."
I cleared my throat, "Haru babe, I love you...but please stop talking."
Professor Nam's gaze suspiciously fell on me. He had a knowing look in his eyes, "Sohee? Would you raise your hand please?"
There was no way my professor was trying to set me up with him right now. I saw that cheeky look in Professor Nam's face. He was infamous at this university for setting up people he thought looked good together. On any other day, maybe, but on this day, no thank you.
