Taehyung POV
My mind was so preoccupied with a million other zooming thoughts that the test paper sitting in front of me was looking horrendously blank.
There was an air of nerves sitting between Sohee and I. That mysterious note was definitely ominous, especially how it was given. But the thought of there being other people just like me was an exciting feeling. Also nerve-wracking but more exciting. Yet it seemed so serious and formal, and I was not accustomed to being like that.
I glanced over at Sohee who's leg was bouncing up and down in a pile of nerves. She was answering the questions on the test, but I could tell her mind was filled with countless other thoughts and worries.
The amount of appreciation I had for her and what she's done for me was insurmountable. She really was my savior. My guardian angel on Earth. All the experiences she wanted me to have, all the adventures she took me on, they meant a lot. It made me feel human. And not like I was some mythical phenomenon that made me different. In her eyes, I was just an inexperienced human, and she took it upon herself to make sure I knew what life was all about. From the little things like taking me to see a movie in a theater, TV and movie binges at home, different kinds of restaurants, shopping trips, fun activities like parks, rollercoasters, concerts, and carnivals. And there were the big things like that diving trip among other daredevil type things. In a short month, I had caught up on all the things I had missed and so desired to experience.
However, part of me was so curious about my origin. How I could even exist baffled me. I was a painting by someone, but somehow, her touch brought me to life. And to think there were others like me...there were so many questions.
"Pencils down! Leave your tests on your desk, I will collect them once you all have left the room. Good work today students!" Professor Nam said before dismissing us.
Sohee's eyes drifted to mine with a rather stressed glance. This was our last class of the day which meant that we had to get going per the strange request. She had tried to talk me out of this a few times, and part of me really wanted to listen to her. To just forget the fact that I was in fact, a living, breathing painting, and just get on with my life like a normal human. But that thought was constantly nagging me in the back of my mind. Answers. I wanted answers. And that was only human nature to want them.
"Hey So, do you want to grab a bite with me and the girlfriend? She's going to be staying the night," Haru said, drawing Sohee's attention.
Sohee was my safety net, and there was no way I was going anywhere on any kind of wacky adventure without her. So I waited patiently beside her.
"Oh really? That's so great!" She chirped, her voice unusually high.
Haru smiled, "I know. Things are going really well between us, so I'd really love for you to meet her."
"Oh Ru...I would really really love to come meet her, but I've got something to take care of first. I'll be home tonight though, so I'm happy to interrogate her then, but I'll have to pass on the meal," Sohee's voice got softer, ridden with guilt.
Haru's gaze hardened, "Is something up with you? I'm not mad, but lately you've been kind of distant from what Jun and I do. I'm a little worried. I know you and Taehyung are off on little adventures but..."
"Huh? Oh...I didn't realize you'd been feeling like that. I didn't mean to distance myself...really but..." Sohee struggled to come up with a lie.
"So...you can tell me anything you know. I'm really not mad, just worried," Haru said softer.
"Uh...you see...the thing is—" she glanced back at me, eyes fleeting in panic. "Taehyung is taking me out on a date! Like a proper one! We've been together a lot because they were test dates, but now we're ready to give a proper dinner date a chance!"
