A/N: This is a depressing chapter to start on
This fic will contain an ongoing struggle w/ depression/general mental health issues, the majority of this is based off of my own struggles but is played up a bit for the sake of keeping things interesting. I am not trying to romanticize mental health issues but, if you take issues with my depiction of these issues, I apologize. I will include possible triggers when I feel it could be needed, but let me know if you'd like me to include certain triggers in the future. Take care of yourself <3
Warning for mild depictions of self harm
"The earth and the sky are pressing hard on my body, my poor little body, oh no! Why can't they just leave me alone?" -Night at the Movies, April Fools
Blue hadn't come out of his room in weeks. Not for any particular reason- that's what he told himself, but after hiding from everything for slightly more than a month, he did feel like a bit of a coward. Red had won the champion match against him... 5 weeks ago. It was a truth that still hurt, and it didn't help that for the first couple of those 5 weeks, there was a knock at the door. Every single day, around noon. Blue didn't even want anybody to console him, let alone the person he had lost to. After Gramps- Professor Oak's whole tangent about how Blue didn't deserve the champion title because he didn't love and respect the pokemon that Blue had done nothing but love and respect, how did he know that everyone else didn't feel the same? Blue had failed as a trainer- and maybe as a person too. He rolled over, this train of thought wasn't going anywhere good. The dim room was lit up by nothing but the little sunlight that shone through the blackout curtains. Blue pulled a bin out from under the bed he rested on. He had a small stash of protein bars and water bottles in the bin, but his stash was... gone. When had that happened? Blue checked the drawers in his nightstand. Once again, nothing. Blue stood up and checked the small, walk-in restroom on the side of his room. He found bottled water, but no food. Blue pulled a blanket off his bed and wrapped it around his shoulders. "I swear to Arceus, if Professor Oak is down there, I am going to flip a table and run..." He grumbled, he had stopped calling his grandfather 'gramps,' 5 weeks turned out to be a good amount of time to deliberate on whether or not to disown someone. So, with about the confidence of a torkoal flipped on its shell, Blue quietly opened his door and carefully slipped down the stairs.
"Blue?" Blue ignored Professor Oak, continuing to the kitchen. He dug a box of crackers out of the pantry and began walking swiftly back over to the stairs. Professor Oak grabbed his shoulder, "You don't ignore me, young man."
"Let me go!"
"Not until you tell me why you haven't left your room for weeks. Daisy and I have been worried sick!" Professor Oak had a firm grip on Blue's arm, Blue tried to tug away.
"I don't have to explain myself to anybody! Now let me go!"
"Red has stopped by every single day, Blue. The worst thing you can do after a loss is be a sore loser, especially after you lost to such a deserving winner." Professor Oak's voice was dangerously low.
"Oak, Let go of me!"
"What did you just call me?!"
"I called you by your name!"
"What is the commotion about? We have a visitor- Blue?" Daisy walked into the room, Red following behind her. She looked like she had just seen a galarian rapidash. Blue shoved Professor Oak away and quickly retreated up the stairs. He locked the door of his room and sat back down on the edge of the bed. The short interaction had left him on the verge of tears, but... he couldn't cry. He refused to cry. Blue's phone buzzed, it was a message from Red-
Are you alright?
Blue didn't respond. It was probably a trap or something- his phone buzzed again.
