"There's a dozen 'round every corner. It won't be easy to piece them together, no-oh. But we got minds like barbed wire." - Toynbee Tiles

How much stamina could one man have? Blue was able to keep up out of sheer stubbornness, but seriously, Red was going too fast to run with. He already had a side ache, and part of him was mad at himself for that but he was able to brush that aside. Red looked back at him and slowed to a jog. "...Keeping up?"

"Uf... Yeah.."

"Regretting joining me already?" Red smirked. He was being decidedly too smug, so Blue sped up to run at a sprint despite every inch of his body screaming in protest.

"Bitch..." He spat as he sprinted past Red. One unfortunately placed foot colliding with a seemingly malicious root later, Blue tripped. He fell, sliding across the dusty forest trail with the breath knocked out of him. Ouch. He was definitely out of practice. Red snickered, looking down at him.

"Graceful."

"Yep. That's what I was going for." Blue got up. His forearms were scraped up pretty badly.

"You alright?" Red put an arm around Blue's shoulders.

"It's fine." Blue cringed, picking at a bit of the burning scrape.

"..." Red paused, his arm slid off Blue's back. "..Do you want to go home?"

"No. I'm not that pathetic." Blue scoffed, feeling a tad defensive.

"I didn't mean it like that." Red cringed.

"..." Blue sighed. "You're fine. What's next?" He was going to tough this out. Red walked off to the side of the trail, a small grassy clearing surrounded by brush and trees.

"I was going to do a bit of training with Pikachu."

"Mk. I'll call out Eevee." They had put the Pokemon in their Pokeballs for the run, Blue pulled out Eevee's ball. He tossed the ball up and Eevee hopped out. She trilled happily, landing on the soft grass. Eevee faltered, noticing the hints of Blue's well concealed pout. "Hey sweetie." Blue smiled, crouching down to stroke her fur. "We're just doing a bit of light training with Red and Pikachu." Eevee purred, climbing up onto Blue's shoulders. Red had called out Pikachu and was signing to it. Blue could've read what he was signing, but battles were always more exciting when you don't know your opponent's strategy. "We're just gonna wing it. Pikachu's a higher level, but we know its moveset." He mumbled to Eevee, "Take it easy." He stroked Eevee's ear, and Eevee leapt off his shoulder. Pikachu scampered away from Red to stand across from Eevee.

Red signed 'Nuzzle' to Pikachu.

"Dodge, stall long enough to hit it with a few Baby-Doll Eyes!" Blue called. Paralysis wouldn't be great to deal with so early on in the match. Out of sheer luck, Eevee dodged the attack.

'Quick Attack!' Red signed, Pikachu tackled Eevee head on. Blue cringed, watching Eevee stagger.

"Baby-Doll Eyes again, then Dig!" Blue called, knowing Eevee would need to play it defensively. He ran through every possible strategy he could utilize in the situation, considering Eevee was underleveled, he was rusty when it came to battles, and the damn rat was far too strong for its own good. Had Red put it on steroids? Pikachu looked a bit lost once Eevee buried under the earth. Red looked so calm and almost bored, if not for the quiet fire burning in his eyes. How poetic, maybe the eyes really are 'the windows to the soul.' Blue noticed how Pikachu had gotten on all fours, its tail pressed to the ground. It was trying to predict where Eevee would come up. There was a long pause. Eevee leapt out of the soil, knocking Pikachu back. Pikachu retaliated with a Volt Tackle. Eevee yelped, she slid back upon impact. Red clicked his tongue, Pikachu scampered back and scrambled onto his shoulder. Blue sighed, walking over to scoop Eevee up. She licked his cheek, Blue stroked her fur. "Good job." He mumbled, a sinking feeling in his stomach was more noticeable than the still burning scrapes on his arms. It wasn't Eevee's fault. It was fine. He wasn't going to be a sore loser because he lost one training match where the odds were stacked against him in the first place. Blue gazed over at Red who was watching him with a soft, concerned gaze. "What's next? I don't have anyone else with me, so I don't think we should be doing more when it comes to training our teams." Red sighed at this.
