"If the sky falls down on our house, it'll have been a long time coming. If the walls all caved in, I'd just lie down. I wouldn't even bother running.." - A Night at the Movies
Blue jolted awake. He felt clammy. Uncomfortable. That was the most vivid dream he had in years. He caught his breath. Red wasn't next to him. Blue's stomach dropped. He left. He really left. Blue cringed, there was a painful knot in his throat. Don't cry. Red's still here. He didn't leave. Fuck. He let out a low sob. Why did he feel so emotional? Why did that dream scare him so much? Red was probably in the shower, yet Blue was here crying because of one stupid, irrational thought. Was he going to have another unproductive, depressive, laying in bed all day because you have way too much existential dread for any healthy human being episode already? Hot tears streamed down Blue's face, he stubbornly wiped them away. Eevee came trotting in through the cracked doorway as if on cue. She chirped, hopping onto the mattress and curling up at Blue's side. Blue let out another gruff sob. Eevee put one of her paws on his cheek. This scene reminded Blue of one of the other various times he had broken down over something silly. At about the age of 10, Blue had a cheesy book about ghost type Pokemon. He had read one of the passages in that book about being cursed by ghastly and a couple days later, a ghastly had gotten loose in the laboratory. Funnily enough, Blue hadn't even needed to see the ghastly to cry and sob about Professor Oak and Daisy getting cursed after the two had wrangled the pokemon. Daisy- like a responsible adult, had decided from that point on not to get Blue anymore books with 'scary' stories. Still, the nerve-wracking, stomach-wrenching anxiety had been the same. It always was the same. Eevee lapped up the salty tears from his face, making Blue snicker weakly. He couldn't stop crying, and unfortunately, Blue knew this sinking feeling wouldn't disappear- even after Red reemerged, but at least he had Eevee. Eevee was being loud- she was chirping and trilling, occasionally glancing at the doorway. She licked Blue's forehead, then hopped off the bed. She scampered away, returning a few moments later with Pikachu. Pikachu's ear twitched, it looked at Eevee who crawled back onto the mattress. Blue sniffled, smiling as he watched her sprawl out, buried by bedding. Eevee was warm, she purred against Blue's side. Blue glanced at Pikachu, which climbed onto the bed after Eevee. It was hard to cry when you had two warm, purring bundles of fur trying to comfort you. Blue sighed, he still felt bad, but Eevee knew how to comfort him. Pikachu... seemed to be just going along with whatever Eevee had told it? It was fascinating how Pokemon communicated with each other. The rat was soft, despite the small spark of static Blue felt whenever he pet its fur. Blue sighed shakily, still feeling ruffled from the less than stellar dream and the even worse psychology his brain subscribed to. Blue startled, hearing a door click shut and the rustle of bags. Eevee continued to purr, Pikachu's paws still kneaded the blanket, but it had perked up. Blue sniffled again, Red must've gone out. Red peered into the doorway, shining a yellow light into the bedroom. "...Hi." Red grunted, smiling at Blue.
"Hey..." Blue croaked, he attempted to wipe tears away from his eyes. Red stalked into the bedroom, he really was light on his feet. He set a bag down at the foot of the mattress and sat down next to it.
"I got us dinner, I didn't want to cook tonight..." Red frowned thoughtfully. "What's up?"
"Just not feeling great..." Blue sniffled.
"Okay..." Red sighed, opening the bag of takeout. He handed Blue a bento. "I found this Sinnohnese place that looked good..." Red mumbled, he inched closer to Blue.
"Oh. Cool."
"You look sad." Red frowned. Blue smirked, picking at his meal.
"It's silly. Don't worry about it..." He sighed, taking a sip of the drink Red handed him.
