She crossed over tables

like an athlete, so swift and agile,

noting down orders

on her writing pad in a rush.

Although some of the

customers raised her hackles

considerably,

nothing ever hindered

the curve of her lips.

They stayed upwards,

not once titling downward.

And to a newbie seated at the

coffee shop,

she would've looked like a professional.

But heaven knew better than that.

It was all through circumstances,

for only she and God knew.

Emily was supposed to be at art school

following her passion.

But here she was,

waiting tables;

doing something her heart didn't like.

Nonetheless,

Emily was a loyal daughter.

She knew her mother

had nobody but her

twenty year old daughter now.

And so for her mom, she worked,

every single day,

even if it meant

sacrificing her future.

Because

Emily would've been at art school,

following her passion.

But among all the distracting thoughts

that were running through her mind,

one stood out more than the rest.

And just like before,

she didn't ignore it.

This day would certainly be different.
