Emily

couldn't quite move

at the discovery.

Just like that awfully

shattering time at the café.

But this was different.

Because this wasn't

mortifying or

depressing.

This was glorious.

Like something

the stars themselves

gifted her.

This discovery didn't make

her want to cry in sorrow.

It made her want to cry

in euphoria.

Because this discovery

was unlike anything she had

ever realized before.

It was so forlorn,

yet powerful,

sneaking into her mind

when she was least expecting it.

Why didn't she

ever realize it before?

When she saved

a very distraught woman

on the road.

When she took in

all the mockeries

at the coffee shop

without so much as a curse.

When she tried her utter best

to stay strong when

her beloved father passed away.

When she looked after her

mother with all the care in the world

even when she knew she

herself was as dainty as glass.

They were always there.

The

twisting,

magnificent

mass of strength

and

depth.

It was always there.

And right in that moment,

Emily awoke from her trance

to prove it for the umpteenth time.

This time,

she would show the world.

Just like she showed herself.

Emily knew what she would paint.
