Business
was surprisingly far too slow.
She stood by the counter
waiting for people to walk in.
A faithful employee
she would appear to some,
and to the ones who judged,
she'd appear an orphan.
Dodging weird looks that the people
sitting on the fancy, vintage chairs
threw her way,
Emily continued her
pursuit for the next customer.
People often thought quite low
of her.
But her worn out brown dress
and her untidy braid
were to be blamed.
Nobody cared if she did
her work or not.
In that posh cafe she worked in,
appearance was everything,
something Emily clearly didn't have.
Well, too bad for them,
why, even she didn't know.
There were galaxies inside
the supposedly simple girl.
Something they clearly didn't have.
