Just when

Emily was certain

she'd be dismissed for the day,

the double doors of

her workplace opened.

Hastily,

roughly,

carelessly,

arrogantly.

Emily had

more words in her vocabulary

to describe that one single push.

Leslie.

An only child to her boss.

This daughter,

as if tailored especially for her,

her hair, a flawless knot

at the base of her neck.

She looked nice as she always did,

Emily had to conclude.

Just the way many

of her other customers appeared.

She knew

Leslie had a job at

Gillian Industries,

a multinational IT company

favouring younger,

newer employees.

The coffee shop got several

employees from Gillian

throughout the transcending evening.

And most of them

were nice.

Specifically the older womenfolk.

Leslie,

however,

was just the type of customer

Emily feared with all her heart.

For they were the most critical.

But then again,
