I sit on the couch next to Eileen. I have my elbows on my knees. They'll hurt soon but right now I don't care. I take my face in my hands and rub my finger to my eyes to get really concentrated.
"Don't you see how happy they seem?" Flickerman says to the guy beside him, I don't remember his name. "Look at them!" He waves to the window behind him to see District One and Two rolling into the arena on horses. They're embraced by the crowd on such high volume my ears hurt. The crowd screams their names, throws red roses to them and jumps up and down. District One is dressed in gold, the best district gets the best costume. The girls brown hair is tied up in a high ponytail with a golden leaves tiara around her head. The boy has blond hair with an identical tiara around his head. They wave their hands to the crowd, happily. They both volunteered for the game. They're both eighteen. The same with District Two but they're dressed in, not in peacekeeper suits that they should've but armour. They're not dressed in a full-body-armour but just some to show how many muscles they have. They wave their hands to the crowd and smiles. The girl didn't volunteer but the boy did. He's a black eighteen year old. He's ripped and I'm almost sure his muscles is going to pop out of his arms.
My attention skips the third ride and goes straight to the District Fours ride. Our horses are black with white spots. I only see our District who has horses with white spots, the rest are just black. My attention goes to Finnick. I suspected his golden wavy hair to be set up in a bun at his back but I gasp as I see that someone has shaved his head. His green eyes glows at his glory. The dressers have dressed them both in fishing net and shorts. The only difference between Paloma and Finnicks costumes are that she has a skin coloured top under it. The crowd roars at them. I haven't realised how many muscles Finnick has gotten. His arms are packed with muscles as long with his six pack and his ripped legs. He catches a rose and winks at the girl who gave it to him. She blushes and whispers to her friend. I know his game. He'll get what he wants through his handsomeness. And he'll get a lot. I look over at Paloma and I see the uneasiness in her posture. Wave and smile to the crowd and everything will be okay. Flex your muscles. I think and on command, through the screen, she shifts her posture but then I see Finnick who just whispered something in her ear.
"Look at those from District Four! Are there going to be any love between them?" Flickerman says and nudges the man beside him with his elbow. He laughs with Flickermans joke. I dramatically gag. If there would I wouldn't like to watch it but only if it was a survival skill. Finnick's fourteen.
"Do you think they'll be allies?" I nervously ask Eileen.
"I sure hope so. It's my only hope for her in the moment." She replies without looking at me. I look over at her shoulder and I see Josh. His brown fluffy hair swaying with his head. He takes a strand of her hair behind her ear like I did on the reaping and lays his hand on her thigh. I try to silence my gag. She stiffens in her body and takes his hand off her thigh. "Josh, no. Not right now."
"I'm sorry bae." He says with his dark voice. He kisses her cheek. Something in my stomach turns over.
Josh arrived just before the show and glared at me when he saw who stood behind his girlfriend. He's still together with Qwintee but I seriously doubt she doesn't know he cheats on her.
"It's okay." Eileen says. I take a bite bread that her mother baked and spreads butter on it. "Could you pass me one of those to me Raelynn?" I look at her looking at me. I pass it over while not breaking eye contact. I see a glimpse of fear in her eyes and the next moment it's gone. She smiles at me. "Thank you." And returns to the TV.
