Lucy's POV.

Tanner was waiting for me at the roll call doors. This kid is getting on my nerves already.

"What are you waiting for? Let's go boot!" I said, rolling my eyes walking away as the scared little puppy followed.

"Well, I d-didn't know w-where to go." He said quietly. I sighed before responding.

"Didn't you get a tour of the station before you came here?" I asked while turning around, anger clear in tone. He slightly shook his head and I continued to walk. This was gonna be a long year.

"You and your husband really are the same. Kind of annoying." He said under his breath, but loud enough for me to hear. I grabbed the body cams and put mine on and handed his to him. He looked clueless so I just did it for him.

"Speak up boot!" I said, putting his body cam on for him. He looked panicked.

"N-nothing." He said, looking down.

"Are you sure? Cuz when you didn't think I could hear you had plenty to say about me and my husband!" I yelled.

"Get the war bags and meet me at the shop one percent!" I instructed. This really would be a long day. He approached the shop with the bags and guns.

After I showed him the basics that every rookie learns on the first day, like how to book a suspect, check the shop before and after an arrest, etc etc, we started our shift.

"Not once has I been last out of the station, yet here I am. 20 minutes after everyone else." I said annoyed.

"W-why do you call me one percent?" He asked quietly. I pulled the shop over quickly, startling him.

"Speak. Up. Or you will walk! Got that?" I asked. He nodded, I rolled my eyes and put my hand up to my ear.

"Yes ma'am." He said, a little louder. I pulled back out as I answered his question.

"Because you were one percent away from failing the academy. And until you prove yourself to be better than that, that is the only name I know." I said, just then a call came in. Thank God.

"7-Adam-12 we have a requested welfare check at 276 E Bakers." Dispatch radioed in. I looked over to my rookie and just went back to driving.

"7-Adam-12 are you accepting the call?" Dispatch asked. I didn't say a word and continued to drive.

"Everyone be aware we have two unresponsive officers." Dispatch said once more. I looked over to Tanner.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"Two cops are missing." I reply. Just then someone else comes over the radio.

"Lucy, this is Tim. Are you alright?" Tim asked through the radio. I pick it up this time.

"Yeah we are Code 4 and we are accepting the call dispatch." I said, looking over to my rookie.

"One percent. Tell me what our call code is." I said, turning on the sirens.

"7-Adam-12, oh. We are the missing officers." He said quietly. I nodded and sped down the road.

(Yes I know this was Thorsen and Harper but I wanted to use it 😗)

We arrived at the house to see two windows broken and blood. I backed up from the door and grabbed my gun. I looked to my boot who was just staring mindlessly through the window.

"One percent!" I snapped him out of his daze. He walked over to me as I kicked down the door and started searching for people while Tanner followed.

We walking into the living room to see two people laying on the floor.

"Dead, for a while." I stated as I checked their pulse. I radioed for a coroner as I heard movement and slight crying in the back room.

"Dispatch send an additional unit to my location and a supervisor if available." I said, walking quietly to the room with my gun in hand.

I pushed the door open slightly so I could see without alarming anyone inside the master bedroom. I saw a little girl, maybe ten, and a man standing above her with a gun in the connected bathroom. I radioed to the additional unit and supervisor what was happening and told them to turn off their sirens as not to spook the man.

"That smell, I-I" he started.

"Go outside! You are not going to cause this girl her life because you can't stand a smell!" I whisper yelled.

Just then Tim, Nolan, and Banks all walked in quietly. I filled them in on what was happening and what the plan was. I snuck around the the back window of the room he was in, being careful not to be caught. Nolan and his boot had their tasers ready as where they were positioned, the girl could possibly get hit.

Tim snuck into the room, getting closer to the bathroom without getting caught as I opened the window. I climbed in the bathroom quietly without him seeing, I gave the signal and Tim burst through the door.

"LAPD DROP YOUR WEAPON!" I yelled. He went to run the other way but was met by Tim.

"TAKE ONE MORE STEP AND YOU ARENT WALKING OUT ALIVE! DROP THE WEAPON!" Tim yelled. The man looked at me and raised his gun with a smirk on his face. Just then he was hit with two tasers and two bullets. He fell to the floor as his gun fired.

I got out of the way just in time as the bullet flew past my head. Tim looked panicked as he ran to me, hearing the gunshot.

"Are you alright?" He asked, trying to stay calm. I nodded my head and hugged him, knowing he needed it.

"Alright back to work." He said in his TO voice, we both laughed as we secured the scene.

-

After the scene was taken over by the feds because it was one of their UCs that died, I walked out of the house to be met by one percent.

"Ma'am-" he started.

"Save it one percent! What if backup didn't arrive in time and he killed that girl, or me? If you want this job then you better show me you can do it and not just run away from it!" I snapped and walked back to the shop.

— After Shift —

"Bring the war bags back, do the paperwork, get it checked by a sergeant, and you're done for the day," I told him as I got out of the shop. I walked into the locker room and felt like banging my head against a wall. How could he be so similar to Jackson yet the exact opposite?

I decided to just get changed and deal with it tomorrow. I walked out of the locker room and up to Tim's office.

"Nice office." I said, inviting myself into his new office.

"Not like I will be using it much, I'm patrolling most of the time." He laughed. I walked over to his desk to see him doing his share of the paperwork from todays welfare check gone wrong.

"Perks of being a TO you can tell your boot to do the paperwork." I laughed as I grabbed a folder.

"What are you doing?" He asked as I pulled the chair to his side of the desk.

"Can I not help my husband with paperwork?" I asked with a smile on my face. He playfully rolled his eyes and got back to work.

KnOcK kNoCk

"Come in!" Tim and I both yelled at the same time. Tanner walks in with his paperwork.

"S-sir, I was told to have you check this." He said, trying hard to be confident. Tim's face turned to stone as he grabbed the file and started going through it. He marked a few things and handed it back.

"Fix those and try again!" He practically yelled. Tanner nodded and left.

"Tough Tim.. just like when I was a rookie." I smiled.
